Hi All,

I have decided to get the gastric band fitted however I am unsure to whom I should go to. THG is cheap and there is a 2k difference, is it worth paying the extra to get 2 years warrenty on the band? I have also noticed how NOC and HW don't recommend THG and promote going onto forums to see what is said abt THG, but I cannot find any experiences from people for NOC or HW.

I have an appointment with Mr richardson tomorrow who is meant to be really good, but after my conversation with HW I am worried about the aftercare HG provide. I am so lost . HG are well known and I thought they were number one? Isnt there somewhere we can get stats eg. Number of band slippages, problems, experiences?

I am having my band with THG and there are lots of people on here who have had good experiences with them. There will always be negative things to read and no one can give their 100% that you wont have and problems after. I would say talk to people on here and then make your mind up, the extra 2k wasnt worth it for me hun x

Wls...3 year aftercare package, I can't fault them...they have been fab ~ have all had surgery themselves which helps x

i had my band fitted with healthier weight 10 months ago. I didn't like the responses I had when I looked into it with THG and thought their approach was appalling.

I cannot personally recommend HW enough, their pre, during and post op care has been excellent, and I've now lost over 9 stones in the time I've had my band. I have 2 years post op care but also 3 years full insurance with my band in case anything does go wrong. Their support post op is excellent, and while I have further to travel for my fills, I personally feel its worth it.

I researched for 7 years before having my band and 100% feel that I made the best choice.

You will always see negative reports more often than not, and there are people who have had good and not so good experiences with all if them. I was over 50 bmi so my surgery was more expensive anyway, but hw have been excellent. There are a few of us here who have had surgery via them.

Also just to say the extra was worth It for me. I needed a provider and surgeon with a zero % mortality rate due to my fear of anaesthetic, another reason why I went with hw, they have that rate.

Sorry I can't comment on THG or HW but just wanted to say WOW! Your weightloss is amazing! Congratulations and its lovely to see that bands can and do work! Keep it going! Xx

I went with the same surgeon as topkat but via THG and I cannot fault my experience whatsoever. also important for me was mortality rate, with mr super that was zero, but in all honesty I never thought to ask about THGs rate  I have almost come to the end of my two years aftercare package, and apart from having to have the band fills, i have not needed anything else. I did have another procedure (cosmetic) and had complications after the op (not THGs fault), but i was rushed back to dolan park for an emergency op as it couldn't be done in an nhs hospital and within 10 minutes of arriving at the hospital i was being wheeled down to theatre. i then had c 12 follow up appointments in the space of two months and was looked after fantastically. Mr super stitches the band to help avoid slippage, but slippage could happen wherever you have the op. i have lost 11 stones with the help of my band, and I wish you every success with whichever provider you feel is right for you :)
