Just back from meeting with consultant and all go for surgery on the 19th April. No pressure from him or his team. Thank you to all who I seen today. X

Thats great news lizzie, which proceedure are you having done may i ask? I'm off to see them next sunday for a band consultation.

Best of luck for 19th ... Not long to wait! Who is doing your op?

No experience of mr hewin but I know others on here have. THG were great with me though. I am soooo excited on your behalf :)

My thoughts too. Am hoping to use them in October but I'm put off a little by peoples comments re: their lack of aftercare! Too me this is vital, don't want to be left hanging.

How are you finding the aftercare????

Xx

Not had operation yet. Having it on 19th April. The aftercare package is for two years and seems ok too me. Once I have had operation will let you know about aftercare x

I am happy with the aftercare from THG, but than again, I did not have any problems that I would need to be sorted from them.

I had my band done by Mr Hewin without any problems. The only problems I have had are that I have needed 2 emergency de-fills. The first time I managed to get from Portsmouth to THG Hammersmith Clinic on a Saturday morning and the second time was a Sunday evening so I had to go to a nearby hospital where I knew there was a big bariatric department. Neither time was the fault of THG, just one of those things. The dieticians have been very supportive and the nurse who does the band fills in Southampton, and travels from Birmingham I believe, has been lovely and oh so apologetic on the 2 occasions she has overfilled me I have no complaints about THG.
You can read more about Mr Hewin online as he works for Gloucester NHS as a bariatric surgeon.
Hope all goes well for you.

I haven't had any problems with the aftercare for the band. But generally people get complications when they are filled too much/too quickly, to try to achieve restriction. personally, i took that side of things slowly.

I had another op at Dolan Park which had a complication. I was rushed back into Dolan a week later. my surgeon was nit working, but another surgeon stayed at the hospital till i could get a lift there, which was around two hours after he should have left. He operated on me ten minutes after I arrived. It was a complication that could have happened to anyone who had any surgery, not specifically related to my procedure. But, I have only praise for the way I was dealt with. All staff were fabulous :)

I had mine done at thg last aug 23 and all I can say is that am more then happy with them!
I wish u all the best of luck for ur op x
