I know Ive changed!
Hiya all
I was thinking back over my two and a half months since my surgery and was thinking about things that I experienced post-op that I didnt expect.
My biggest things have been the horrible mouth I had for the first five or so weeks, I hadnt never heard of people having the same thing and it shocked and upset me.
When I say horrible mouth I mean that I had NASTY breath and very thick saliva that I had to constantly spit up, and I mean a LOT, I had bowls in every room of the house to spit it into and I had to carry packets of tissue everywhere with me to spit it up because if I swallowed more than a mouthful or two of it then my tummy would hurt and I would feel sick, so even when I went back to work after a month I had to try to delicately spit up into the tissues and hope noone noticed. This lasted for around five or six weeks and I hated it but then it reduced and reduced until around eight weeks post op it stopped and now I only occassionally get a tiny little bit of it but only in a morning and it is getting rarer.
Nobody warned me that it could happen and nobody else seemed to get it or at least they didnt talk about it, though I did find one lady who also experienced it, so I have decided to share that I had this just in case anyone else experiences it and feels abnormal or something.
Also, for around the same amount of time I felt as though I had swallowed a hair or something and always on the back left hand side of my throat, it made me feel rather queasy and at first I thought that it was maybe a scratch from the tubes during surgery but it went on for so long that I thought that it couldnt be that but I was totally miserable because it felt so odd and I was scared that it would be a permanent thing but then one day it just stopped and I am thrilled that it did.
I also wasnt prepared for just how quickly my skin would sag. It hasnt sagged MAJORLY, just noticably and mainly my breasts and my buttocks, I knew it would sag but I didnt realise just how quickly. Im doing things to try to prevent it and ease it but its still a thing that has shocked me.
So, how about everyone else, did you experience/are you experiencing anything that you really didnt expect?
Steph xx
