Please can you give tips on how to eat... I know it sounds completely ridiculous but I can't eat right.. For example ..

I put it on a small plate
I cut it up loads
I eat with a tea spoon
And I chew a little..

I can't break my habit of eating quick and not leaving a big enough gap between mouthfuls, I always forget !! can some of you lovely banders scare me a bit with the facts.

I'm forever making myself sick!!

I'm sure it's because of the way I eat and not what I eat!,

How did you lot change your old ways... Xxxx

Get yourself a timer :) My provider actually gives us a little egg timer which does 30 seconds.

As such, we eat for 30 seconds, wait for 30 seconds and by making yourself wait for that time, slows down the eating and helps the brain to register. It does become second nature, although I find because I have little restriction that I still do eat more quickly than these timings, but not to the speed I used to.

If you havent got a timer, then use a stop watch or timer on your phone and make yourself wait for those seconds. (some have a 20/20/20 rule - chew for 20 secs, wait for 20 secs, eat for maximum 20 mins) if thats too quick, try the 30/30/20

So, if you're using either method, when can you drink?

You shouldn't drink at the same time as eating. Some providers suggest not drinking for either 30 mins before and for a minimum of 30 mins after eating. I however drink a litre of water up to the time Im about to eat, but no longer drink at the same time.

Drinking can help "push" the foods down too quickly which leaves you feeling hungry again, or if there's too much food and liquid can stretch the pouch which is something you also want to avoid.

My provider says no drinking but said if u want to take a small sip it's fine as long as u don't guzzle like I did first time result was food got stuck and ended up aspirating my juice 2 foot over the front room out of my nostrils god it a good thing I've got a big nose knew it would come in useful one day ;) x
