People prefer to buy the unripened bitter horrid ones off the shelf, because they look prettier - they bring the home in the hope that they can ripen them up. It doesn't always work and the fruit goes straight from under ripe to rotten.

I prefer the ripened and over ripe fruits ... they may not be as 'pretty' but they are ALWAYS sweet and never disappoint. :hug99:
