Total De-fill

Alice

Loser :)
Hello everyone,

It's been ages since I last posted... I keep up with all your stories on my iPhone but it takes so long to type on this thing, I don't often comment!

Those who know me will know it's been a difficult journey since my band op in July. Eventually I reached 2.5ml a month ago but soon started vomitting, then my pouch swelled up (again) and I spent the last fortnight on a liquid diet again. Had to get rehydrated with an IV drip last week.

So today, I had the band completely emptied. Got to leave it empty for 2 weeks to let the swelling go down and then we are going to start trickling in tiny fills. It seems my stomach is super sensitive and swells at the slightest thing.

Feeling pretty fed up but so pleased I have the support of the team at the WLS group. Had the band with WGA and of course they give no aftercare at all... God knows what a state I would be in now if I didn't have Wendy and Colleen at the end of the phone!!

Blimey Alice, what a nightmare! I've spotted your name at the bottom a few times, and knew you were busy with things so didn't think much of you not being online.

Hope you get sorted, it's great you have the help you need with WLS. :hug99:

Hi Alice, thought i'd not seen you posting for a bit. i hope your de fill lets the swelling go down. what a nightmare for you i hope things improve. take care xx

Oh Alice, you have had a rotten time of it but still a big well done on having lost 32lbs in the process!! Hope things go a bit easier for you now hun, thinking of you :)

Hi Alice, so sorry to hear that your still not having a good time of it hope that defilling helps your swelling go down. Thinking of you take care and hope it wont be too long before you can start getting your fills again. xx

Thank you everyone for your lovely messages. The support on here is so good...

So, since the defill my problems have continued. I still can't eat and continue on a liquid diet. It's now looking like my band might have slipped. We are giving it one more day to allowswelling to go down and then it will be time to xray etc and check all is as it should be.

What a nightmare.... I thought this gastric band business would be easier than this. I know I'm just unlucky, but wow it's been so hard.

Hiya Alice
so sorry to hear about the run of bad luck that you are having.
When you bought the WLS package does it cover the cost of the x-ray or are you having to sort that out through other means (by yourself or through your gp etc). Have you ever been able to eat normally since you had the band done, or have these problems started weeks after your band insertion? Keep us informed how you get on, what time is your xray for? where will you be having it done? thinking of you and hope all settles down soon for you.
MNL:wave_cry:

Hi Alice feel so sorry for you, you have really had an awful time of it. Hope you can get an xray and everything is allright and it hasnt slipped. Keep us informed what happens and try and keep your chin up I know it must be hard.
Thinking of you and sending you loads of hugs :hug99::hug99: Take care xx

Hiya
me again:eek:
If i remember correctly, you had your band fitted at Dolan Park, who was your surgeon? Did he stitch the band in place? I had Mr Sig and when I went to my discharge appointment I asked him if he did infact stitch the band in place and he confirmed he had. Not all surgeons do, if you didn't have Mr Sig, you should call The hospital Group and speak to your surgeon and ask if the band was stitched in place, its less likely to slip if this has been done.
Take care
MNL;)

Hi Alice sorry your problems are continuing. how long are they gonna leave you before they do the x rays and stuff?? if the band has slipped what does that mean for you? take care xx

:hug99: Alice, hope they get it all sorted out for you soon.

Just got back from London. Xray was fine thank goodness! They just think the band is a very tight fit and I have lots of swelling. Got to stick to liquids and slowly wean onto purée and mush as I feel able...

Thank you so much for all your support and good wishes.

Someone asked if I had to pay for the xray: yes I did - £150 for xray, £100 for consultation with doctor.

X

Pleased to hear it's not slipped Alice! Hope it all settles down for you quickly x

So sorry to hear about your problems with the band. But this proves you aren't unlucky, it didn't slip which is GREAT news. Some people aren't sensitive enough so they have the opposite problem and feel like the band doesn't work. Your just works too hard and won't let you eat. Just baby your tummy for a little bit and then I'm sure you will be fine. Congrats on your weight loss so far, you are doing great!

Hi Alice glad to hear that your band hasnt slipped bet your feeling a little better after that news, sorry to hear it cost you again but at least you got some good news from it. Take care and try not to rush things and hopefully you wont be too much longer getting things back on track. XX
