Today I planted some salad leave plants & some tomato plants. Gonna try this grow your own lark. Not a natural gardener but added to my exercise regime. Those grow bags are mighty heavy. Weight lifting???:wave_cry:
To be honest 3 months ago wouldn't have been able to even go to garden centre & walk around with my mobility problems. Now gardening! It's great. I am now on major snail & slug alert.

I am a gardener but have stopped growing anything cos it is just not cost effective ... they do taste better though :) It is really good excercise too ... burns calories as much as lots of gym activities. :) Good luck for a bumper crop :D:D xxx

Not quite sure how growing veggies isn't cost effective - it saves a fortune. We've a new garden (taken us a year to sort this after we moved in), but now have potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, chilli's, courgettes, a range of herbs (need more), lavender (to dry for crafts etc), and various other things. We don't have a large garden and all our things are growing in tubs or sacks. I want a couple of small fruit trees for next year, but have to decide where to put them lol.

I love growing my own food from seed , and really don't see why it's not cost effective. I've grown potatoes from what would hAve been throw aways that have seeded in the veg rack, garlic from a remains of a supermarket bulb, squash from seeds saved from one prior to roasting, tomatoes from last years surplus. Seeds are what a quid a packet and from these I have courgettes, sweetcorn, carrots, lettuce, beetroot and cabbage. Herbs from seed or the supermarket potted ones. A strawberry plant will fruit well for at least 3 years, and throw out suckers to make new plants.
Sorry off soap box, I love my tiny garden.

Thx guys will let you know how I get on. Only done herbs & chillis before & they were great.
