Tummy tuck

Good question I'm about to start on this road so would be interested in finding out to or at least what to search for on the local NHS sites to get a good idea locally.

It's really difficult to find out. I was told categorically by my GPs and specialists both down south and up here that it would not be funded while the nurse at my surgery winked when I told her and said 'we'll see' !!

Different areas have different criteria's. Some hospitals fund the op through exceptional circumstances and some dont do them at all. The criteria for Leeds was BMI under 30 for 12 months or more plus a large over hang and medical problems. x

I know I read somewhere that you had to maintain a target weight for at least 2yrs post op before a gp would consider referring you & then it wasn't guaranteed. I'm a few days shy of 2yrs post op & maintained for a year plus losing an odd couple of pounds so hospital dietitian advised going to gp & asking to be referred whether that happens or not I've yet to see waiting for a reason to go to doc other than just that. I need to go in the next few days to arrange some blood tests & take in a form from ww for signing me off as hitting a modified goal after 12mths maintainance half a stone from a healthy bmi & weight which the dietitian is sure is tied up in my excess skin & more probably. My cbt counsellor is behind me to & I hope to get the support of my arthritis consultant who initially suggested I had the gastric bypass, as part of his treatment & to delay double knee replacements the bypass being cheaper than the knees plus I was still on the young side to have them done in my mid forty's as I was back then.
