fabby not flabby :)
I am on anti depressants and omeprazole tablets. Will I be able to take them post op, as if I don't I will suffer:confused::confused:
Also is it ok to take gripe water in the early post op days for wind ?:D

Candie gripe water is a must for us banders but I don't know about bypassers. As for your other meds your doc will give them to you in liquid form or crushable. Don't worry sweetheart they won't stop your anti-depressants or any other meds you need. xxxGaynorxxx

Hi chick, My op was in Walsall, but the hospital provided any meds they could in liquid form. Anything else like my thyroxin I now crush. I was on anti depressents and they gave it to me in liquid form. x x

Are you a bypasser? If so you won't be taking omeprazole anymore as you don't need it. You will however be given lamoprazole in a pop on your tongue and disolve tablet for a while to keep the acid down post op.

All other meds should be wherever possible changed for liquid or soluble tablets by the hospital or your doctor. If you can't get them in liquid form you will have to crush them.

Sorry chick forgot the wind thing - I think gripe water is ok. I had a peppermint solution that the hospital gave me though because I was in such pain. x x

So do I have to tell the hosp way before my op, or shall I just ask my doc?:D

All my meds were given to me in liquid/soluable/chewable tabs except for my bp med which I crushed and layered into a small spoon of yogurt for two weeks until I was able take regular tablets. So don't worry, they will take care of your meds and send you home from the hospital with them probably.

Nic:D

When you go into hospital they ask you to take all your meds with you. They should have a record of your medication from your GP already. They then organise your meds and bring them on the ward round. Don't worry, it will be sorted. They are so used to dealing with fluids only people. Ok? Try not to let it bother you. You take care hun. x x

Thanks gals!!I'm such a worry wart!!lol:D:D

Candie it would be worth discussing your anti-d's with your GP beforehand, not sure that macclesfield will sort those for you. They should be available in liquid form though. They will give you the lanzaprazole though and pain killers/forceval etc.

Thanks shel, I will ask my doc hun:D
