Very Sad Case......

My friend who has also had a bypass sent me this link, its a very sad case but shows how little the press seem to know about the procedures, refering to both gastric band and bypass in the article.

I wonder if this poor lady had a psychiatric assessment beforehand??

I don't know anything about a bypass, could that happen with a bypass?

That is so very sad!! And I also wonder if she had any counselling before the surgery. Its a bit confusing as to whether she had a band or bypass, but as I understand it, if you eat too much with a bypass, you will vomit it back up.. But maybe she had been vomiting repeatedly and thats why the oesophagus was so swollen, what an awful awful shame!!!!

As usual the press show they dont know the difference between a band and a bypass.

Band in the headline and bypass in the closing statement.

A very tragic case indeed, her family must of been devistated!

Again this is very sad, did not mention any follow up app which her over eating could have been discussed at. :-(

At the beginning of the article they said she had a band and at the end they said she had a bypass. looks like editor has no idea what he was writing about!

Very sad case but there should be follow up on the provider of the surgery to prevent this happening again. From this short report it would seem there was very little pre or after care. At least here should have been follow up. Where was her surgeon & team? I would have though a coroner would have to report on that?

That is awful. Maybe if she was consistently eating too much and being sick that her gag reflex eventually diminished and it just built up. How terribly tragic. Even is she had the psychological screening, people slip through by not being honest or just not knowing if they can cope. I hope it makes people think about asking for help if they are ever struggling. It's much better admit to what's going on than to go through that

What a sad story, poor woman and her family must feel awful not knowing.
Her care team should at the very least be asked some questions as to why this happened!
