Vitamins - post op

Hi (again)

Sorry I am just bursting with loads of questions about my upcoming surgery (only 1 more week left at work before I fly over to Birmingham)

Anyway I was at my GP getting my BP and weight checked before flying over and have organised my medication in liquid form.

I am organising a multivitamin in liquid form but would like to know if there are any recommended brands

Thanks again in advance
xx

Our provider gave us Dalivit... I have to tell you, looks like cat pee, smells like cat pee and do i need to tell you what it tastes like? Even when put in strong cordial, i went onto chewable multi vitamins about 2 days post op! xx

I'm on chewable vitamin tablets, Bassetts soft and chewy for young adults. Got them from the hospital where I had my operation, they said that though they are aimed at young adults, they are the best ones with the right vitamins and minerals for us bariatric patients. They are raspberry flavour and taste a bit like sucking a sweet.

lmao - sounds delicious

I came out of hospital on a multi vit tablet and crush it between 2 spoons its not too bad mixed with a bit of yogart

I've taken solid vitamins from 2 weeks post-op. I use Boots A-Z as recommended by my dietician, and break them in half as they're as big as horse pills!
I also take Ad-Cal twice per day and ferrous fumerate once per day. I get them all on prescription.

I was told not to take mine till approx 3 weeks out from surgery, I got them prescribed from the GP and they are capsules (large ones lol) but Ive managed to get them down ok from 3 weeks out :D XX

I am on bassetts chewable ones like jac...mine are orange flavour and I get them out the 99p stores :) and thats 99p for a whole months supply .. HTH Julie xx

NONE of my vitamins or meds were in liquid from and I started taking them the day after op

Thanx everyone. Hope I havent gone and organised liquid meds when i didnt need them!! lol. All the info my provider gave me told me to get them for the 1st 4 weeks.

My GP was saying today that liquid meds are really expensive - eg my thyroxine for my underactive thyroid is around £1 for a months supply of tablets but £48 for a months supply of liquid thyroxine - scandalous

I went straight onto solid meds after op, I found that sainsburys basics multi vitamin has everything you need and only cost 28p for a months supply....but then i have been reading merican studies and they have found that patients taking multi vitamins and pro biotics have a more succesfull weight loss..... so now on multi bionta plus probiotic tabs...they are big so don't think i could have taken them before 2 weeks!!!!

I have been told not to take any medication tablet form due to the fact they dont know how well I will absorb the mediciene. Seems to make sense. So I have chewable bassetts multi vit, chewable calcium, omega 3 fish oil and fast tabs which dissolve on my tongue. I think there is a huge discrepancy in what we are all told which makes it confusing.
xxxxxxxxxx
