hi I was referred by my gp at the beginning of the year, i went to a seminar at the start of april and was then seen by bariatric team end of april ... I was pleased as I thought this was all very fast ... they were happy with everything said I didn't need any counselling and was a perfect candidate, tey said I would next be seen within 3 months for a camera to check my stomach was ok and to be weighed to check I had lost what they had stated I needed to (1st 3lb) ... its now been 16 weeks and I have herd nothing I have rang them previously and was told they were a little behind with appointments and I would receive one soon ... im now trying to get intouch to see whats happening and it is constantly engaged ... getting a little impatient and fed up now.
im with sunderland royal hospital

edit... finally got through and they say theres no specific waiting time for an appointment basically ill get one when I get one slightly confused now!!!

Sorry to hear that Mrs Plus. Sorry I can't help you, as I'm with North Tees.
Hope you get some answers soon! Xx

Waiting is horrible, I'm also in a similar situation. Just don't obsess (what I do) and distract yourself and it will come when it comes. Easier said than done, I know. Best of luck.

Sunderland are a nightmare I've just recently last week had bypass and was a long process took 18 month to finally get op. In all that time I must have rang them hundreds of times and never for an answer, all I can advise is be patient as there's no other choice :(

Hang on in there it took me 20 months from first referral to op - but it's worth the wait - time also helps you to get in the right mindset x

Sunderland operation and while on ward?
Sunderland waiting times pre op ?
Sunderland post op ? had to wait nearly a year for my first post op

Didn't show my pics, operation fab and ward care, pre op terrible waiting times. Post op wanted to complain as waited nearly a year!

that really fills me with confidence. I have just got an appointment with Sunderland. But hey at least I have an appointment which is more than I had yesterday. Lol

Good luck. I am sure you will hear something soon. I am waiting for my 1st appointment at Sunderland, wish I knew even if I had an appointment for a few months time at least I would know! x

It's the waiting that's the hardest isn't it - at least if you have a date you have something to look forward to or aim towards.

I am at the start of the process, waiting for my gp to refer me, I called her today as she didn't call me back yesterday only to find she only works monday and friday!! :( Waiting and patience are not my strong suits!!

Im with SRH and the whole process will have been completed in 11 months. I have no medical issues (thankfully/yet) and my BMI was just a fraction over 40.

My GP referred me beginning of Nov 13 and had Seminar end of Nov 13. Saw the consultant in March 14. Camera in June 14. Op date Sept 14. :)

well I rang them again today and they gave me appointment for 2mw .. little shocked and now very worried as I still have 6lb to loose x

fine Aud just waiting for an appointment with dietician and bariatric nurse. How are you getting on? x

This is what I've put on another post it pretty much sums up where I'm at presently. X

I'd already been to North Tees for my first seminar got my target weight to lose -8 kg and my next appointment confirmed with them is 21st November. In the meantime about 3 weeks ago I got a letter from the specialist weight management service saying I had an appointment with them for the following week. I rang up and explained that I was already under the bariatric team and did I need to attend their appointment. After a bit of humming and arrhing they said yes to still go. So that was an experience in its self, they didn't seem very organised and my question was, as I was already under the bariatric team would there be a contrast of interest, as I didn't want anything delaying. The consultant wasn't there (delayed) and they said he would be the one to know more. Anyway I saw the physiotherapist and psychologist who basically both took a bit of history. An hour later the consultant still hadn't arrived, so they said they would put my concerns to him and ring me later. The outcome was to still keep my appointment with bariatric team, as provided I lost my target loss the consultant thought things would progress with them. Also I could contact swims if I felt I needed any extra support at any time, but I'm not going to them regular, also they made me an appointment with a dietician as I've never seen one before.

So if you have already seen the psychologist will you need to see another one as part of the progress towards surgery?

At least things are progressing along
