Waiting for operation

I am due to have an operation for a Sleeve in December 2012. I am very scared but I know this is a life changing oppurtunity as I have always struggled with my weight especially after my second child was born. I am 51 and want some reassurance that I am doing the right thing.

Any advice is appreciated.

Hi Brixtongirl, you have posted in the banders section - there is also a section for us sleevers!

I'm 2 months post op, had a sleeve too and am 50. It was a great decision for me, and I have already halved my BP medication and discussed coming off it altogether with my GP tonight. But I read up a lot on the drastic implications of taking such a step before I decided to have the Op.

You ask for reassurance - it is difficult to give, as everyone has to make the decision for themselves.

Your life after a sleeve will never be the same again - eating out with friends was a huge part of my life, and I have to accept that while I can still go out with friends, it is no longer for the gourmet dinners we used to have. I took great pleasure in good food (rather than junk food) and that has gone. But my health is better, physically I can do much more than I used to, including running up a flight of stairs. I made a list with all the positive things about having surgery on one side and all the negative things on the other side of the paper, and that is how I made my decision.

you are not alone brixton girl everyone has these last minute doubts and nerves kicking in you will be fine xx
