I've been advised to have 2-3 litres of water a day. How do you guys manage it I'm struggling a little bit and think that's why I may have a headache this morning ?

It's hard to start with, but does get easier.

I have a 1Lr Jug I keep on my desk next to me and just keep drinking, although I am drinking NAS Squash not plain water.

I am now doing 3-4l most days with ease.

That is a million miles away for me at the moment! I'm managing about 500ml if I'm lucky. And I'm feeling constantly bloated and full so cant fit another drop in. I know with my operation there is a lot of restriction to begin with so hope once the wind goes I'll be able to increase my amounts.
maybe thats an amout to aim for once your swelling goes down?

It is really hard at first, but it does get easier.. The secret I think is to sip, sip, sip all day long. I also keep a Litre of Iced water on my desk, and drink from that all day, and then refill it for the evening... If you keep on taking small sips, all day, you will be surprised how much you will have drunk...

I struggle with it right now, but thats because being on liquids only its hard to get even more liquid down LOL but yes for me NAS squash will be the way to go :)

I promise it does get better. I use to manage a pint max in the first couple of weeks and got told off by my team but I physically couldn't fit in any more than that. I drink around 2 litres a day now. I have to admit I still don't like how drinking feels but I think that is just me. It doesn't hurt any more and most people find it no problem. As it has been said the trick is just keep sipping - the 2 litre bottle in the fridge really helps. I also found that warm drinks were so much easier to drink than room temperature. Tea still is the thing that goes down like I never had a bypass. When the initial swelling goes down it will feel so much better. Keep at it, you'll get there :) x

I took all your advise today and sipped slowly and now worrying completely the opposite that I can have to much !! Lol today im 2 days post op and I've had :

5 pints water
2 cartons of supplement juice
1/2 can soup
1/2 milkshake

That sounds fine to me, you can drink to much water (not due to surgery but due to water diluting the natural salts we need in our body) but that usually takes a lot of water. 1.5-3 litres is usually fine for an adult. Not sure what op you had but sounds like you are doing good. I would try and get more nutrition in you as time goes on too - so more some soup but don't worry too much it all takes time and practice. Just follow your post op diet sheet and you will be fine :) x
