Weight Related Back Pain

Undecided

New Member
Hi All

Did anyone pre-surgery suffer from lower back pain ?

Back been pretty bad for about a week. Trying to work out if it's weight related or not. Think I can guess the answer but just thought I'd ask anyway ..

I had two discs taken out of my back 5 years ago and was told to lose weight and I was a lot lighter than what I am now.

Recently I started getting back pain, where I could walk for more than two mins without being in pain, this was my turning point to start losing weight, 4.5 Stone off, no back pain, I can now cycle for an hour and not feel a twinge.

Wow that's good news. Can I ask what the discs were removed for ? Were they damaged ? I have a vague memory of being told something about damaged disks when I had an MRI about 10 years ago because of getting episodes of numb hands and feet. I probably wasn't really that big at the time, but yeah either way I guess the weight doesn't help.

I'm the same now. Even a small amount of walking seems to cause pain the last few days. I think it comes and goes though. I went to a chiropractor years ago and that really helped. Might look into that again aswell. I just hate the noise when they crack things. Uuuurggghhhh :)

Yeah sure L1/S5, I was semi paralysed and my partner was told I may never walk again as they were crushing into my spinal cord. Touch wood here I am, and about to start life and enjoy it.

And yes weight does affect it, I feel so much more freedom now, not planning where I can stop to ease the pain along a simple little walk.
