Hi all, was seen in the week by consultant had bloods done and appointment made for lung function tests. Tier 3 was mentioned but wasn't explained can anyone enlighten me??

Tier 3 where I am in when you get referred by your GP onto a weight loss program. For me that involved attending group sessions about healthy eating and also information about WLS. I also saw a CBT dietician to discuss my history of eating disorders and to work on why I had ended up so obese. At the end of the program which should have been a year but was 18 months as providers changed I confirmed I wanted to be put forward for WLS.

I was seen several times at the hospital for further info and to convince the surgeon I wasn't going to use this as a way to re start my eating disorders and eventually given funding.

From what others have said, if your BMI is over 50 then tier 3 is sometimes just 6 months.
Also I wasn't given any weight loss target during my time on tier 3 but a lot of people are given a goal amount of weight to lose in order to be considered for weight loss.

As you'll see reading the forums there is no one pathway to surgery and we've all had different experiences with different requirements and time frames.

Hope that helps and welcome to the forums :)
