WHAT DO YOU THINK THIS MEANS ??

I explained last weeks about my further appeal and that I have to wait another 2 months before I get an answer. Well I thought I'd get myself prepared for when they say no again, so I e-mailed the Freedom of Information Dept for the PCT asking for details of bariatric funding request and how many were refused/granted etc.

Well on Friday I got an e-mail which obviously was not meant for me but for a lady called Lisa who is the commissioning support manager as follows :-

Hi Lisa,

I’m assuming this is a straightforward one for you??
Do you know if the requester is a patient who has been refused surgery? She’s down in our safeguard listing as “patient”
Cheers

What do you think. Seems rather dodgy to me but maybe I'm just cynical.

I would appreciate your thoughts please

Jane

Seems they are aware of who you are and why you are requesting info!

I suppose so but I wonder what the Safeguarding List is. It sounds like you are someone who must only be given certain information and if so, why.

A safeguarding list is a list of people whether they be children or adults, who are deemed as vulnerable for lots of reasons. It shouldn't affect your request for information. You have requested statistical information that is freely available for people to request. Have you checked the national statistics website? You may be able to find what you need on there.

Well as far as I know I've never been classed as vulnerable

I asked for the same information in May last year before my appeal and I got the information back no problem. Mind you, I didn't know that they got the info direct from the funding department, I assumed there was an independent office that kept all the facts and figures for anyone who asked

Remember just because you are paranoid it dosen't mean they are not watching you.

They know who you are and where you are :)

I would also print off the email and take it with you to your meeting. It could be seen as a breach of patient confidentiality.
