Hi what was the best.thing you took into hospital or wished you had x

I took my fleecy blanket well had my hubby bring it in I was cold you could ask for blankets but brought my own in, pleased had my i pod kept me calm and occupied when i couldnt sleep. x

I'm going to follow this thread, as I'm going in for my surgery next week, and could do with some ideas as to what to take with me....

I took face cream, lip balm and moisturiser, but didn't need it.
I did use a mouth freshener spray.
I took a book, but there was too much going on for me to concentrate on it, so my hubby brought me some money to put the tv on, just so I didn't spend all day watching others....(I'm a bit nosey like that. lol)
I took an extra blanket for the cold days, nights seemed warmer.
I took nighties but my incisions were high enough for me to wear p.js, and wished I'd taken my lounge suit for when I was walking about the ward (to ease the wind).
I took a small note pad and pen - it was to swap numbers/e-mails if I made a friend, and also used it to write my hubby a note. I knew he'd be visiting not long after I got back to the ward, and as well as the lovey dovey stuff, I told him to feel free to watch telly, asked him to hold my hand even if I slept, and apologised if I was sick or looked rough!
Hope this helps.
Good luck

i took my ipod so i could face time my family after surgery :) and watched a film but they had tvs at the hospital group so i watched the soaps etc too :) I wish I took windeeze tablets and STRONG liquid painkillers as the liquid paracetamol just isnt enough. make sure you take 100% cotton knickers. You will need a dressing gown. I took magazines. loose pjs. erm thats it really!xx

I REALLY wished that I could reach my mouth spray the day after my op!! Basically it got trapped in the little cupboard next to my bed and I couldn't get to it.
I took more nighties in case of PJ bottoms rubbing on wounds, but all my wounds were higher up so were actually fine for PJs. Its very hard to get in and out of bed without flashing in a nightie!! I called in emergency PJ bottoms from my hubbie.
There was a thread a while back by Yvessa about what she took and didn't need. I went through that thread and made a lovely list. I found her spot on!

Ear plugs a must. Lip salve very useful had some bought in. Non- underwired bra to come home in.

100% cotton knickers - but not your best as they get trashed with iodine
I-pad - Dolan Park has great free wifi!
& I wished I had my fleecy blanket - not cold but just want something from home!!
