Whats you drinking method

Tamgredan

wanna be happy!
Me again,

When you have a drink, how do you do it?
This hot weather is making me mad as all i want to do is have a big drink of fluid.
Is it ok to take tiny sips one after another or do you wait between sips before having the next?

Hello you again! Lol

When I'm thirsty I drink sips fast now, and if I'm honest not so small sips!! My thirst is quenched quite easily. I think I'm in need of another fill tbh! ;) xx

Im sipping quite fast in order to quench the thirst. Im worried about sipping too fast as last time i dont it (days after op) i suffered BIG TIME!

Sip sip sip....chuffin sip sip sip

I'm scared of sipping too fast! So much so anything I have that is hot is well and truly freezing cold by the time I'm a quarter of the way through! I've no way met me liquid requirements the last few days either!

I sw
I swallow two small gulps and wait a while then do it again to make sure its gone through!

Im almost 3 weeks post op and not meeting my requirements with all this sipping. 2 litres a day is impossible!

I struggle with cold fluid nearly 6 months out. Best I can do is a big sip. I have not got into the habit of constantly sipping but trying harder. I am contemplating trying water with a straw.

tranquil x

Thanks TB,

Due to all the diets ive tried in the past, im a big believer in "you drink you shrink" as fluid takes your fat from your body.
Im only managing about 500-750ml per day and going to the loo 4 times if im lucky, where im used to going lots more.

I was the same as you just after having mine done when I sipped & sipped ended up with burning sensation but now 2 weeks in & I can sip sip sip doesn't hurt at all which is good with this weather xx

Over the last few days I've found ice cubes to be great! Can add your own flavours too. As they melt feels just like swallowing your saliva - As gross as that sounds lol but it works for me!

Thanks all, i was sipping faster yesterday and didnt suffer for it. Ive got real bad sensative teeth so putting ice cubes in my mouth makes me cringe (but like chewing wool or foil)

Hi Tam I found it very hard drinking, have milk with your cereal, juicy fruit, gravy, sauces, milky drink at bedtime, cauli, broccoli all have water, suck an icepop. It Is so much easier when you get a routine, like I make myself drink a mug of tea before I have any brekkie.
Dont use a straw you will drink too fast and swallow air,it hurts!

I cant take big gulps/drink too fast, small sips but very very often, you will get into a routine of doing it , and I am sure your body will let u know if u take too much in ( ouch) I can feel the pain from here lmao - main thing is not too push ya band/pouch, at most I can manage two sips ( like u do when u go for barium meal/fill) when the surgeon tells u too take two sips one after the other so he can see how the barium meal goes through your band, thats how I have kept my drinking too - Strange but it works for me no pain from gulping too me ( trust me I done this before) and you do learn real quick from your mistakes. Wishing you all the best - any more questions dont hesitate to ask xxx

I'd like to question on this too please. What I can't work out is how long between sips? Should it be seconds/Minutes? I'm so scared of over doing it that I'm hardly drinking anything!

Small sips hun and there isnt a time limit on how long u should leave it inbetween sips, work with your band/pouch kelly, thats wot I do , your band/pouch will let u know if you have gulped/drank too much. You should really keep your fluid intake up hun as u could easily get dehydrated especially in this lovely sunshine we been having, if you drink slowly and small sips you will be ok. Its a learning curve really hun. - All the best xxx
