Why is exercise equipment not designed for the obese?

I've been searching the net for hours looking for either a bicycle or some home gym equipment. The outdoor bikes never mention a maximum weight allowance. I've only been able to find one company which specialises in bikes for the obese and that's in america.
The gym equipment seems to have maximum weight of between 15 and 19 stone which is no good for me. Plus the seats just aren't big enough. I really struggled on the exercise bike at the hospital because the seat was so uncomfortable.
You'd think someone would have spotted this gap in the market by now.

hi hun
i started the gym at 26 stone and 4 lbs.............i never broke anything give it ago xx

I thought this ages ago! I did join a gym for a few months but hated it, all the posers really did my fruit in!

Now we are starting our exercise programme by going for a good walk every day come rain or shine. It's gonna cost a few hot showers if we get soaked, but hey it's free and we might stop for a coffee in the pub on the way back :) xx

I started at 25 stone almost, I bought a cheapo bike from halfords, its been fine, I just bought a padded saddle :)

Don't let things stand in your way, your only barrier is your mind :)

I had this problem too, I brought a cross trainer about a year ago, its fab actually! it makes exercise fun as it feels like your floating above ground... maybe Im just a big kid really lol
I brought one from e-bay i has max weight of 19 stone, but I seem to weight about the same as you and it holds me up I got it for like £30 and hired a van to take it home, its worth a look :D

i guess they think fat people dont exercise.. i was 22 stone when i joined the gym although i were 1 of the fattest! x
