Hi, sorry to hear you have this problem. I fully understand what you are going through.

The hospital gave me lactulase liquid. The best advice is to drink plenty!!!!

I add fibre sure to my food and drinks. This seems to help.

I have had loads of problems with constipation and piles. It has made me feel very miserable at times. I can't even drive for very long. This is the first time in weeks that I have felt "normal" since my surgery.

I hope you feel better soon.

I know how you feel, I felt as though I was giving birth again last night with all the straining (sorry to be so graphic but that's how it was) I'm going to buy some lactoluse today and take for a few day's I couldn't go through that again.

Hope this helps.

I was told lactulose by the dieticians I questioned the sugars and dumping and she said it shouldnt be a problem. I said what about the fibogel you recommend for the pre op diet and she told me not to take that as it swells and bloats you.

Hope you get relief soon :(

Xx

Movicol is available on prescription, and if you get impacted at all you can get enemas prescribed.

Due to sickness, and not being able to take any laxatives without vomitting, I use glycerin suppositories.

It works well for me but you must drink plenty.

Good luck

Hi from the bariatric team in Manchester I was adviced MOVICOL! this is the most natural one. You can purchase it over the counter 100 satchets for £7.85 if you cant be bothered to go to the G.Ps but if you do go to your G.P it is also available on script. Hope this helps Gail.x P.S I took this 8 weeks post op as adviced by Mr ammori.
