Hi Guys

I have 24 days left til my surgery, still can't believe how calm I am about it but am thinking that will change as I start to get closer to my date!

I'm trying to get myself organised now & am thinking of things that I need to get before going into hospital.

On my list so far
Deflatine, Infacol, Dry mouth spray.

PJ's, phone & charger, book, toiletries, clothes

but after that I'm stumped. Can anyone help suggest things that or they had or wish that they'd had?

Thanks in advance. xxx

Sanitary towels. I would say u have a 90 percent chance of having ur period before you are discharged xx

I was very glad I took some NAS squash with me as although they sold it in the hospital shop it was very expensive.

Thanks... although I've not had a period since being on the depo injection 3 years ago.

Oooh good thinking thank you! Love the new avater btw, yr looking fab! x

There is a thread somewhere, a sticky one, prolly in the FAQs, entitled what was in your hospital bag? where people discussed what they took, what they actually used, and what they wished they took.

The best thing I can recommend is to use the time to start listening to your tummy, and try to learn what full feels like. Most overweight people can't do this and mistake stuffed for full. Try to stop drinking with meals now to get used to that, and maybe make some tasty high protein soups for the liquid stage.

Aww, thank you !

I think that just about covers it. Just something to distract you, something for the dry mouth nad to flavour your drinks. Usual toiletries etc

I'm making my list of stuff to take in and im gonna be takig my ipod and nintendo ds and facial wipes. But like someone else said there is a great sticky in the FAQ section.

I always take my nail file kit... sounds daft, but it gives me a chance when in hospital to really spend time with my nails and I never go anywhere without my face creams, since even in hospital... the air is dry and being over 50, it's always Protect and Perfect serum for me...
Plus a few of my favourite magazines! Good that some hospitals now allow mobile phones too... or I would have been lost when I was last in during July for a week.

Thanks guys have checked out the thread in faq & made a list which I will go thru.

Ear plugs are on it!! Better take some in for everyone else in the ward as apparently my snoring isn't pretty!!

Ah yes, that reminds me... one of the other ladies in our ward complained the rest of us kept her awake with our snoring !! Guilty as charged m/lud !:8855:

I took trashy celeb magazines as I couldn't concentrate on my book or iPod.

The best thing I had with me in hospital was Wendy (Wendybendy) who had the bed next to me and we kept each other company and sane :)

Do you think she'd happily go in my hospital bag?

I do have 2 lovely ladies from this site who are having their op the day before mine so will be good to 'kinda know' someone else there!

nas squash
ear plugs
dry mouth spray
sanitary towels
wet wipes

Not sure why you want deflatine and infacol though! surely one wind remedy is enough?

hand held fan. I've yet to stay in a hospital which wasn't boiling hot.
debit card if you want to pay to watch the tv near your bed.
makeup bag for when the doctors come round.
