Feeling Cold

Hiya. I'm really feeling the cold. My hands and feet are always cold. Through winter, I've even had 2 douvets on(both 13.5 togs) to try and keep warm in bed. Its been suggested because of the amount of weight I've lost, my body is just getting use to me.
Do you think this normal.

I am going the other way...when I was 17st I was cold a lot and drove my hubby mad in bed as I was always freezing and trying to steal body warmth lol...now Im toasty warm in bed....would love to know why your colder and Im warmer:eek:

4 bloody years ive sat here freezing ! its awfull since my op im cold all the time, im sat here in my pj's furry dressing gown and the radiator by me is on full. my hubby says we could grow bananas in here lol.

thats funny i was wondering if when we loose the weight we aren't as warm! i need a big tog duvet and a blanket already, im dreading next winter!!

awwww thanks Wanda for the warm hug. xx

I was always warm before, roasting. But now, Freezinggggg.
Weird how we're going opposite to what we were before Wanda.

Liz. Do you put that down to the surgery, that your cold all the time. I was hoping it would level itself out somehow over time.

i do put it down to loosing weight, alot of wls patients suffer with it and its a side effect of it, its some thing im used to now.

And a hotwaterbottle. Never underestimate the power of a good old fashioned hottie - it warms the space under the duvet whereas your poor freezing bod is not. Duvets rely on body warmth to start working efficiently.

Almost every WLS patient I've met is cold. Things have changed with hormones, not as much padding, etc. A few (like me) are not but it's much more rare. I can go to a support group and eveyone is in heavy coats and it's May. If it's really worrying you, you can ask your GP. Otherwise, it's just kind of how it goes postop.

i am not always freezing but i get cold chills every now and again, last night goosebumps started and i was already in bed!

When I lost heaps of body fat on LL, I felt the cold very much, so much that it was an alien concept to me.

It's simple peoples; when you shed those stones, you simply ain't carrying that insulating warmth-trappin' blubber around anymore!

I've been hot since the last time I was Thin(er). I found the best thing was a very thin long sleeved camisole vest. layer darling lots of them. All my friends laughed because I'd previously been so hot.
You could use those heat pads that you can reuse with the little clicky button, or thermal pads from the chemist, they stay hot for ages. very comforting

But all thats temporary and losing weight is a bit like moving to a colder climate, you don't have anything like the insulation you used to, But on a brighter note I beleive it's possible to acclimatise eventually. I can't wait, I'm so sick of constantly sweating cobs when all around me are huddled in woolies!
