3 weeks out and weight loss has slowed right down :(

I'm sure that a lot of wou will tell me this is normal but I weigh myself on Sundays, only once a week, and I only lost 2lbs when I weighed myself last weekend.

I know in the 'normal' world 2lb a week is good, but should it slow down so quickly? I started on sloppy foods this week - is that the reason for the slow down? Is my body trying to hang on to any food its getting!?

Just a bit disappointed. I'll step up the exercise and hope for better when I weigh in this Sunday.

I've only lost 6lbs in the last three weeks which has annoyed the heck out of me. But I've also been moving on to sloppy foods. I'm definitely not eating too much so I guess my body is just panicking and will settle eventually. At least it's off for good this time. That's what I try and tell myself but yeah it sucks.

I didn't lose a pound weeks 3-5, yet 7 months down I am approaching the 100lbs lost. Trust me, in the grand scheme of things little stalls or small losses really are nothing to worry about. Try not to worry and know that if you follow the rules, this WILL work and you WILL lose a lot of weight.

Ditto Blueeyes, all normal dont panic and exercise too much, your body doesnt know whats going on.Big breath and settle into your new way of life.Trust us who have been there,in a few months you will be on here telling someone else exactly the same!

I went through the same thing it is very frustrating... I lost two pounds a week for 3 weeks straight... I up'd my protein I know it is really hard to get in all your protein but it really will speed up your weight loss and help keep u health!!! Also drink lots of water!!!! When I bumped up my calories to 800 a day and my protein to about 80 g a day I saw the weight come off much faster... I think it kicks you out of starvation mode.... I know its hard to remember but 2 pounds a week is a lot!! For anyone!!

Thanks girls!

I know I'm probably being silly and shouldn't expect to lose half a stone a week lol!

Hopefully I'll see some improvement this Sunday when I step on the scales!

Lynn is right.
Stepping up the protein makes a hell of a difference. I try to eat mainly meat and fish in my diet. I'm fortunate that I find it the easiest thing to digest too.

hi alishalynn how do you get 80grms of protien a day xx

They have protein power shots. You can get them at Walmart they are 3 oz and 26g of protein. I'm on the soft food stage so I try and get as much as possible myself but drink one or two protein shots if I fall behind :)

I have everything crossed for you hun xXx

Good luck and all the best to you.... I can understand your frustrations when u have worked so hard up to this point to only see two pounds...... But remember it's not a race :)

you'll get there hun, i think i must be abit too chilled about this weight loss thing...i seem to have no interest in weighing me at all. I'm just gonna wait til my 8 week check up and see how i'm doing then. I figure that if i stick to the rules then i'll have lost something x

That's a great attitude to have Sarah. I weigh once weekly, but tend to find I lose more when I'm less anxious about what the scales say.

Good luck Karen. Can't wait to see how it's gone for you this week.
Sarah, I'd love to be able to wait two months to check my weight after my op like you. It's a really good plan I think. that way we can see the overall acheivment and not have the disappointment of a low loss or STS week. However, I am a total scales addict and have zero will power! I can't even imagine going a whole week without weighing myself. I know it's a down fall because when there's a fluctuation that is not downwards I immediately despair and go on a binge.!

Well I had my weekly weigh in today and I lost 1 pound - so not great but it's in the right direction and never to be found again!

Sarah - my god that's willpower - I'd never wait 8 weeks to weigh in - it's bad enough waiting for a week! Lol

Anyway I'm going to try not to get too hung up on it all. In the old days I'd have been depressed and reached for something nice to eat to console myself after all that effort just for a pound! But Week 5/stage 3 starts tomorrow and I can introduce toast and crispbreads, looking forward to a crispbread with some low fat pate on it for tomorrows lunch!

A pound is a pound is a pound. Half a bag of sugar or two blocks of butter. So it's not too bad. I understand your frustration though and dread this post op as I'm so impatient. I can't help but think that your steady but not so speedy weight loss post op is because you lost so much before. Your total wl is fantastic and you must feel a wonderful difference in yourself???
I like you would head for the comfort of food , feeling cheated that my good efforts are not reward. 3 days on a diet and I expect to be 10stone lol. At least the bypass will help me modify this very destuctive behaviour ( I hope)
Hang in there Karen. You've been through loads and are doing really well

Thanks Miss Tickle lol! We obviously think along the same lines!
Well I've booked a holiday for June next year as I fully expect my bum to be able to fit in a plane seat by then lol! Me and hubby are going to Toronto for 4 nights for my cousins wedding then off to Vegas for a week for some fun and relaxation!
We've both lost between 5 and 6 stone each, like you say mines more pre-op and his is more post-op (his op was Feb). I can really see the difference in him but not in myself! Some clothes are looser or too big but when I look in the mirror I can't see it! Perhaps when I've lost about 10 stone I'll see the difference more!

Just noticed only 2 weeks til your op hun - have you started your pre-op diet yet - and which one? I did slimfast only, both times! 3 weeks in Feb, then 5 weeks in June. Hard for first 3 days but then you get past it and you find you don't miss eating so much!

Spooky! I've just been looking at holidaysas i really want to go away in the new year. I so want to be able to get on a plane without worrying.
I started my pre-op last Monday- low carb/low fat/low cal. Am doing okay so far as I haven't cheated. it's showing me how much head hunger I have as the portions are very small but I am actually able to function and not gnawing my own arm off ( yet!).
It's so good that your're both going through this together.

Hi Karen, as I am pre-op, I can't offer much advice, except to say that it's 2lbs off, never to go back on again. Like Miss Tickle, I immediately go on a binge if I'm not happy with what the scales say. I tend to think 'stuff it' all that hard work for nothing, which is why I am where I am now......

Hopefully my attitude is changing, preparing me for inevitable 'slow' weeks, which is probably what you're experiencing. Isn't it true that sometimes the scales stay the same, yet the inches carry on dropping?!.....

Best of luck for the rest of your journey.
