5 weeks post op

Evening all,

So I'm 5weeks post op today and 3 weeks into puree stage, however it's become a pain in the arse when it comes to main meals as everything I puree is making me sick... The smell, the texture, the look, everything. I still have another week to go but apart from weetabix, yoghurts, jelly and protein shakes nothing else stays down....

Any suggestions?

When I was about to move from liquids to the pureed stage I thought I would love it.......it turns out I hated it ! Like you the taste/feel of it in my mouth, yuck
all I can say is its nearly over only a week to go then I guess your moving onto firmer foodstuffs

Dig deep and stick with it!! I remember feeling the same after 3 weeks of puree and couldn't wait to move on to something with more texture but don't be tempted to rush it. It will be worth it in the end x
 
I'm only 2 weeks into it and feel the same! The dietitian suggested I eat 6 times a day but there's no way I can face purée 6 times, I'm going to give her s call today x
 
Not tempted to rush just cannot stand the thought of being sick again lol. seems like im gonna live on mash potato and gravy for the next week lol

I havent managed 6 times a day in about a week or so because by the time it comes round to eating again i still havent recovered for being sick the last time.

I'm lucky I've not been sick, the texture makes me feel a bit sick, I'm worried I'm. It getting the right nutrition as I'm mainly having soup! X

Same here, soup and yoghurt is all I seem to be living on, need to sort something out as I'm due back to work next week and cant be puking when there. Lol
 
Lol ill live... part of everyday life now lol ..... nope pouch doesn't like it..... up it comes lol


I spoke to dietitian today as struggling with puréed food, not much use but she said I'm not eating enough and need to try more protein she said to try cheese but then after I'd hung up I thought how do I eat cheese on purée diet??

I used to eat dairylea triangles on my purée stage for protein. I hated it too. Stick with it - I promise it gets better :)
 
Have you tried whey powder I got some from Holland and Barrett strawberry flavoured it nasty on its own but ok in juices and you get the proteins 20 g each portion.

I've got the strawberry, plain and the banana one strawberry is nasty lol. Plain I mix in with some yoghurt and other two with milk

Hi I'm only 12 days out and this same problem hit me yesterday. I just hate some of this pureed stuff now, I'm managing about 4 meals but was just gagging yesterday, forced it down! Weetabix and yoghurt I seem to manage tho. I've also started making 1 smoothie a day. Today's was 1/2 cup fat free Greek yog, 1/4 banana, 2 frozen strawberries. 1/4 cup skim milk bit of sweetener in blender. It's really nice and a meal! If it helps?! Also I have put a cheese triangle in tuna with a bit of extra light mayo. I also use cheese in mash and beans just melt it in x
