A day away

I'm a day away to finally eating some type of food I have lost 24lbs so far and have been on a liquid diet for 3 wks now. I cheated in the beginning which of course I'm not to proud of but I have gotten over the temptation and continue to stay focused. As of Weds I will be able to eat grits, cream of wheat, low fat yogurt, skim milk, cottage cheese. That beats liquid any day so I'm pretty excited to finally be eating something other than liquid or jello.. So here's to another day of liquid soon you'll be gone and I won't miss you LOL :)

all sounds good apart from the grits lol!!! well done you for staying on track and having a great loss xxx

Thanks Witch In that's for all the doubters and the ones who tried to discourage me when I first started on this site especially when I confessed to cheating on my liquid diet.. Boy did I get an ear full

I did see that lol! but they were saying it because they care, not because they are mean and now you are post op and you see someone cheating and confessing, you might be stern with them too!!! I hope no one was trying to discourage you, just giving tough love!!! When I am being weak (not saying you were, but I know I will be) then feel free to tell me how it is ok!!! xxxx

Sure thing Witch In as I expect the same from you it's always good to support one another especially when your going through the same struggle.. I know the reward will be greater in the long run.

I'll trust you - I'm in england and a penpal sent me a box to try as we were doing an international food swap ... I think it was plain as I just added water .... very bland and a weird texture ... that is assuming I made them right of course!!!! xxxxx

ROFL! Isn't grit what you feed chickens?!

Well done drod - I am pleased you are doing well. I think it is interesting that altho so many of us have had exactly the same procedure, the variety of advice and timescales from our providers is incredible. All equally valid of course.

I love this forum - so helpful. Thank goodness I found it. As witch says we owe it to each other to be as generous with our honesty as we are with other things.

All the best you two. xxx

Thanks Lilac and that is very true it's always best to share what works for us and what doesn't. I guess all Dr and nutritionist aren't the same with their advice and there menu plans.. It's not always easy to follow them especially when you are so use to eating food good food lol.. I guess in due time I'll be eating good food again just making smarter choices and smaller portions..

I saw my provider today for my post-op check. He asked what I was eating and seemed pleased with my answers. Tonight I had low cal fish pie with tenderstem broccoli florets. It was the most normal meal I've had in three months. For lunch at work tomorrow I'm taking mash, some more broccoli and have poured over it a couple of dsps of low cal creamy pasta sauce. Breakfast will be toast, and snacks will be yogs. Feel I'm getting there ...

Good luck drod - we're at the same stage so good to know you are there x

Thanks for the info Lilac very informative I can't wait to actually eat normal food even if its a few bites since I'll be full really fast.. The saddest part is that I won't be able to tolerate any sweets I use to love eating sweets I guess that was my comfort food.. I know it was going to lead to a path of diabetes and a bunch of other health problems.. But there's a bright side I can eat sugar free sweets but I have to get used to the Splenda taste..lol

Take care with the butter and cheese in the grits, not only are these setting of calorie alarm bells, but you can also dump on fat as well as sugar or both, and dumping is such a joy :eek::eek:

Lol I hear dumping is the worst so I'm definitely going to try my best to stay away from them thanks for the warning Thinner

After I had my stricture stretched I had the full dumping works including the 'why I have I done this' time in the bathroom

I have just had the shakes, sweating, having to lie down and having to go to sleep up to that point, and I hadn't always been naughty, one time was a strawberry fat free yoghurt (sadly clearly not sugar free), one time it was ONE candy and a small one at that.

It's truly horrible  and a truly fantastic deterrent :D. I think that you can only understand that statement if you've had wls :giggle:

Lol I just had a strawberry shortcake light yogurt for the first time today being as though I'm on my 2 wk after my WLS. So I'm no longer on the liquid diet thank God.. LOL .. I have yet to experience the dumping syndrome but I always try to eat sugar free things. I ate a strawberry tic tac today just to see if I can tolerate the sweetness without dumping so far so good.. But tic tacs have 0 sugars

What a turn around drod ... In just one week. Woo hoo! Yes, when you're onto purees in weeks 3 and 4 it does start to get more normal and human. xx

Strawberry Tic Tac?! How very dare you! ROFL! xxx
