Advice about pre op at Taunton please

Excellent, post is finally up. Tea Towel, it has been inserted into the place it should have been about 5 or so postings up.

Thanks lornabatt

Bit disappointed that he said mid to late June though as I was hoping for that and I have another 3 weeks to go for my pre-op. Suprised it's only a couple of weeks of work too- for a bypass. Online on the hospital page it said 6 weeks..

Well I bet it felt real for you?

Thanks, and good to hear everyone is friendly etc. Do u chat to mr m for long?

Happy for you xx

I was also disappointed about the mid to late June bit, when they had said at the education that it would be 4 - 6 weeks from the hospital appointment but it is not that much longer.

Re Mr M - I was not actually with him for that long, but I think that is because I am quite clear what I want and the reasons why and he was happy with that. Others with more complicated medical histories, or who were not sure what op was right for them etc spent longer with him. I think it is a case that they give you the time that you need, which is good.

Re work - I do an office based job so that may have had some bearing on the time. What he did say is that I would not be running at 100% at that time and would need to make allowances for tiredness.

Top tip for pre-op - Bring a bottle of water or another drink and something to nibble on if you have a bit of journey home. It is a long afternoon.

Thanks for the tips.

It is not much longer than you thought really on the scale of things. I was trying to plan mine as I am teacher and to be honest it would be nice to have it before the holidays as I have two boys too look after too.
Do you think it matters if I have put on some of the weight I originally lost for Exeter? shouldn't do, but its hard keeping it off since January.
x

No, that won't matter, the funding is in place and agreed. The decision is all about wherther you are well enough to undergo WLS. However, they state that you must not put weight on between the pre op appointment and the op and should contunie to try and lose during this period.

That's ok then.
I haven't put on masses but not tried so about the sameish amount. It's easy to lose onthe pre- op diet though isnt it? X

Hi tea towel i just see that i never answered you last week i think i may have posted it just like the lady above did biut it wasnt there, I had my bypass in Sunderland in the North east. I had no drain when i woke up but did have a drip which i got removed the following morning. I too work in a school and i hadn't asked but my date was in the summer hols in August so it was great for me it was the 20th i went back to work at the start of the new term inSeptember just didnt lift or carry anything. I am a TA/LSA so we always carrying or lifting something and playing games i work with vocational kids year 10 and 11's our new year 10's do a lot of team building to bring them together vas a group and it was important for us to get them from the start thats why iw ent straight back after 2 weeks but i never had any problems at all. Good luck sory this is late xx

2 weeks? Never had time of work!
Was excited when on the hospital site said 6 weeks and thought be nice to finish the year early!
I prefer to pretend I haven't seen your comments- no offence! Lol.
Will go with what the doctors tell me to though lol x

I' m not offended by that honestly and i was hoping that my op would have been during term time but at the start of a new year we need to get our kind of pupils on side and let them know how strict we are and rules, otherwise you have lost them thye are the kid no one else wants you see. Don't blame you just i get bored as well good luck xx

Chrisa lol
I would not like to have it in September at all, and would proabably do a similar thing to you. However the last few weeks of the summer term would be rather nice, as everything winds up then anyway! What will be will be and all that. Just seen your stats, as on PC not phone (where I can't see) but you have done amazingly well, well done! x

Lornabatt

I keep hoping you will get a date through, sure you do too. Please let us know when u know.

My group session is next Wednesday. Pre-op week after. Starting to happen x

Hey it really depends on the health off yourself ? I had op sat was out Monday lost 1 stone on pre op it also. Depends when they open u up to see i was put down for a bypass but surgeon did say if there not enough room then they consider sleeve bloon really depends on your organs and pre op liver shrinking diet so they have enough room to operate i did get way i wanted which was a bypass hope this helps x

Congratulations. Came round sooner than you thought hey?
