how long after gastric bypass does it take for your bowels to sort itself out ,can i take senna ? my surgery was on the 30th dec 2011

Took me about 10 days till i stopped exploding... It can vary person to person though xx

I didnt 'go' for 10 days! Yes you can take senna - in fact Luton & Dunstable hospital discharged me with it on repeat prescription, and I still take it every night!

I was given lactolose to take for 7 days after my op.. just 15ml in the morning. but some people do have problems going at first as yournot getting much food in.... but pop to the chemist and ask for lactolose or something similar..and drink plenty of fluids xx

Another example of hospitals being so different, I was told I couldn't take lactulose or fybogel and that if I needed to take anything I'd be best to take senna.
