Have taken the plunge and have booked gastric sleeve surgery with Prof Ammori on 7 November. Would love to be going in sooner, but need to do a bit of travelling with work in September / October and I guess the extra time will help me clarify in my own mind that I have made the right decision. Lots of useful posts on here have provided very useful guidance in making my decision - thanks to you all.

My only slight concern is that the surgeon wants me to be tested for sleep apnea first... which could take months on the NHS. Has anyone any experience of the length of time for referral? I may do a test privately as I really don't want to wait beyond November for the op.

I too just got my letter of confirmation for my band on 23 August!

I can't comment on sleep apnea test, but depending on your doc they may give you an idea of the cost privately?? X
