Another CPAP question, sorry

hello fellow hoseheads, this is a question for those who have the full mask. For the first week it left no marks on my face, but now it does
I go to bed looking like darth vader and wake up looking like homer simpson hahahaha
any ideas? xxx

Hi Caren Although I only have a nasal mask I had no redness or problems for the first 3 months, I now have a permanent Rudolf nose!! It fads very slightly by the end of the day!! xx

hahahaha its really annoying! they take ages to go! I think i might be moving it in the night, sometimes i have an itchy nose and have to lift it up lol
ah well, better than dying i spose xxx

no its not moving, i dont want to tighten it lol it will get worse! xxx

Initially it is factory fresh however as you get used to it the latex molds itself to your face. Chances are you've tightened the straps a little as it feels different and you are worried about leaks?

Loosen the straps! Or moisturise day and night

Better ring for advise as you don't do back for a checkup until 6/2 :wave_cry:

i do moisturise every day, and yes i worry about leaks, sometimes when i lay down i bit escapes so i tighten it, u think its too tight?

I get some really bad marks in the morning which generally go quite quickly...I was told by my Sleep Ap Nurse that if the marks are still there after 15 minutes..It's generally too tight.

i had mine looser last night and the marks were better, still there but better. Also im getting very dry skin now, just the bit where the mask goes, so ive bought some nivea, as its quite rich, and keep putting that on, its my new BFF lol xxx

It will be too tight Caren. If mine seems to have a leak I tend to just lift the mask a little then let it suction itself back to my face rather than keep tightening it. I know you do have to tighten sometimes but try and not over tighten.

Also, try not to use the moisturising cream straight before applying your mask, the mask will suction to your face better if your face isn't greasy with the cream.

Its all a learning curve in the beginning but it becomes like second nature really soon ... xx

I've been a hosehead for a year now I used to have full face mask but moved to nose mask. Although if I get a cold I go back to my full mask and find it more comfortable if I wear a bandana, as the full mask use to make my forehead hurt, also stops the mark on the forehead.. xx
