anyone else have similar ? curious

am aware a lot of people who have the operations for WLS have co-morbidities and health problems which are deemed as weight related..

Am curious as to whether or not - has anyone's pre-op health issues - got worse since the operation or have any of you had something NEW appear as a problem SINCE the operation?

for example.. I suffered badly with osteoarthritis in main joints from waist n lower spine down..

and now am suffering from sciatic problems which never were an issue before..

anyone else have similar/different/anything at all??

if so - what reason have you been given for it if you've seen gp because of it..

i'm pre-op, but my co-morbidities are hypertension, obstructive sleep apnoea, family history of heart attacks, hypertension and strokes, and my late mother had diabetes, i suffer from achey joints, and also sciatica at the mo, i'm hoping for all of these symptoms to disappear, and the chance of type 2 diabetes not to be an issue

as you shift weight your muscle structures change so does your posture. This can cause pain and discomfort but is usually a tempoaray thing whilst you strengthen them there muscles. I was told to be aware of my posture shoulder back, tummy in etc and work hard on thoes core muscles to help things along. Initially in the early days i had a lot of lower back pain and also sciatic pain but that has all subsided now.

I have developed some pain across my shoulders since post op. I did think it was a shift in my centre of gravity with the quick weight loss. Seems to be easing but am aware of the need to sit with my back straight. I have also altered my driving position slightly.
Thanks, Carole, you've put my mind at ease!

I think Lizzie and HC pretty much sum up what I would have said...It makes sense when you think about it with regards to aches and pains. The way the muscles functions during weight loss.

(((hugs)))

I had a few aches and pains that appeared about 6 weeks post op. I came to the conclusion that it was because of the way I now hold myself. I stand taller now so my posture has changed significantly causing the temperary pain.xx

wish it was temporary pain.. am going to be seeing gp this week because have had issues with lower spine previously when heavier and dont want this to kick it off again..

I can understand about change in muscles etc but wouldnt have thought that 3months on from op.. I'd be suffering with yet another health issue..

I dont slouch at the computer, I do half hour a day on wii fit and 10 mins on exercise bike so not exactly a couch potato now so I dont get it.. am not overdoing it but am in more pain now than I was.. :sigh:
