then had there surgery refused?....

I was afraid of that, though I couldnt lose it myself so didnt really affect me.
Most peoples problem is that they can lose it, just not keep it off, so that is why lots need the surgery, your surgeon should know that. Maybe email your surgeons secretary to ask for an answer on that.

eeek i did ask last time i rang and they said it shows comitment etc and they realise peoples problem is keeping it off so surgery wouldnt be cancelled... but i cant help thinking ooooo but what if....

Stephie is right I'm sure Kelly, showing them you are comitted to changing your lifestyle is only going to be a positive sign that you will make the surgery successful for yourself too.

I had this discussion last week during a group session at Salford Kell, it's highly unlikely... it's changing your mindset and working to help yourself which will help your surgery... keep going... the fitter you are pre surgery, the better you will be post surgery...

Don't gain weight to have surgery... keep doing what you can, they know we can't keep it off or we would not have got this far...

Help yourself as you are doing, you are an inspiration with a 2 stone weightloss and everything else you have going on...

Love and hugs xxx

i asked about this with the dietician at my last apointment kel and she said no! the surgeon loves it when you loose weight yourself because it makes the actual operation safer and shows that you are comitted and mentally ready for the op too! i would slow down tho if i was u just incase because all the hospitals are different! youve done really well!

ok guys well my bmi was 45 its now 41.4, so i think i might just maintain now and not lose anymore? what you think? x

Just work on changing your taste buds , take this time to get used to healthy foods and do some exercise every day. This is your new way of life now where you respect your body and take care of it. It's got to carry you through a long happy healthy life from now on right?
If you make healthy choices around food and do at least half an hour walk a day, you should keep your weight stable from now until the op. Just keep an eye on it once a week to help you stay focused on this change in your eating habits.

Personally Kelly I think keep going. I asked the dietician at SRH this question and she said, " we know you can lose weight, it's keeping it off which counts."

You know you're going to have to maintain for quite some time even when you get put on the list, so you need to stay focused and eating healthily.

The trouble is, if you let up, will you lose focus and just re-gain? I'm pretty sure I would, in fact I did! Better to stay focused.

god i feel like crying.... i dont know what to do for best x

Kelly, get a grip! You're going to be fine! Hugs xxx

kelly huni, if theyve already told you it will be ok huni, then it will be, like eerybody has said, you can all lose it, but its keeping it off thats the problem, and if they know that at clinic, youll be ok, so dont worry hun, and well done. your a little star. big hugs

I lost 55lbs & they said to be I could weigh 12 stone & they'd still do the op on me because I have such a bad history of yo-yoing! This is more to help me maintain than to lose weight... over the years I've lost 100's & 100's of lbs! I'm a pro at losing at an absolute novice at keeping it off.

If in doubt ring yr team, they'll be sure to put yr mind at rest. My bmi was under 40 when I had my op. x

i think you will be fine but just incase id maintain! 2 stone is brilliant! and christine said that under 40 bmi they wouldnt have given it her - so if they can say it to her they can say it to us - i suppose it just depends on the surgeon! in my eyes i think its best to be safe than sorry kel and i wouldnt let you bmi below 40 untill you op, loads luv and a massive hug! xxxxxxxxxxxxx

just chill and try to stay focused . i didnt mean to panic you by what i put in the other thread im just telling you what Mr Small told me. i had never thought of it and thought i was doing the right thing by losing as much weight as possible so i got a shock when he said about my bmi -

i feel really guilty for saying anything now xxx

Not wanting to burst any bubbles but someone I know had surgery refused because she lost 3st between her appointments.

The surgeon decided she could loose the other 5 on her own and didn't need surgery. She was gutted.

She has since gone on to loose 2 more stone but is struggling to keep it off.

I hope this doesn't panic you and I know all hospitals and surgeons have different views. I just want to be honest with you.

ok dont worry guys :) im gonna maintain now and not lose anymore xx

yeh the 27th chick x
