Wow, some inspiration here. I had my DS 2 yr 4 months ago and have lost 14 stone 13lb. I had to go private to have DS as it wasn't available on NHS and had to go to Leeds. Started with BMI 63.9 and size 34/36 - now BMI 29.8 and size 14/16 top and 16/18 bottom. Plastic surgeon reckons if and when I can afford plastics (turned down on NHS) I would be a 12 top and 12/14 bottom - more than I ever expected. Now maintainence i going to be the tricky time.
Good luck to all on their journey and for sharing your stories
Hugs

Hi Joanne, Im a 32 and saw my surgeon end of September. He said he wanted me to loose as much as possible before surgery as he will not do it. Am/was so scared I had waited all this time so I have been on a huge weight loss diet. It is so so hard though, my OH cooks for me, but I have lost 23lb so far. I should be having my bypass or sleeve (which the surgeon said he will do if my BMI is over 55 around begining of February 2011. I really want to get off as much as possible.
Im hoping that I keep with the healthy eating till at least my pre op. I dont want to go back, im going forwards and hopefully "down in size!" LOL.

i was at least a 30/32 clothes size at the time of my op
my journey started march last year, i got my funding approved in july (after a few speedbumps), had consultation in august, therapy session in october and got my surgery date thorugh in the january which was for march this year.
I have currently lost about 8 1/2 stone and this was the best decision i ever made as far as i am concerned at this moment in time
Clothes sizes have changed loads
Tops - now size 20/22 - was size 32
Skirts - now size L/XL (us sizes) - was 5XL
Trousers - can fit in the size 24 at a squeeze - haven't worn trousers in about 10 years lol
Best of luck with your journey x

It was the thought of moving up from a size 30 to a 32 that made me seriously talk to my GP about weight-loss surgery.
To be honest, I had high blood pressure and was worried about my health as I weighed over 23 stones and my BMI was 54, but it was the vanity factor that did it for me.
I know it sounds very shallow, but I was terrified about hitting the top of the standard Evans size ranges
I feel quite ashamed, writing that.
I managed to lose 42 pounds before my op, which helped enormously with the grieving process over food and made me much fitter in preparation for surgery. I'm glad I did try so hard pre-op as it reduced my waiting time by at least 6 months.
I recovered very quickly and am enormously grateful for the opportunity. I'm currently 12 stones 10lbs and wearing a size 14 in most things.
Good luck!
