Anyone waiting for rny at heartlands?

HI Everyone, i am newto this site, seen Mr K on 25th, funding inplace no % tolose as i am an ex bandster, 7stone loss and 5 1/2 regain, mr k said i on the list, and would be asap... his co-ordinator says 2012, i am confused.... anyone help with waiting list info ?

Welcome to this site.
I had my bypass done by Mr Kumar in January and had to wait a year from my initial appt/ funding agreement.
I am from N.Ireland and had to fly to heartlands for my op, as have the other patients from N.Ireland. As far as I know there are still patients on the waiting list from N.Ireland to get their ops done by Mr Kumar (on list from Jan 2010), on top of the patients from Birmingham - thats maybe why they are saying 2012. Cant say for certain though.

thanks for rapid response, oh well.... no point in worrying guess it will happen when it happens! i am so impatient! at least now i know i can relax a little .... i was all ready to start my pre-op

ur welcome - i am sure if u contact them they could give u approx timescales. I kept hounding them and eventually they called me with a last min cancellation. Otherwise, i prob would still be waiting. I dont know what way they work the patients from here but it looks like patients from birmingham do get priority - so just keep checkin

hi kate i had my sleeve done at heartlands by mr kumar in october 2010 my ex wife is due to have her bypass there in nov/ dec this year she has waited about 10 months so far i had about a 7/8 month wait after first seeing mr kumar my funding was in place at that appointment , but its so worth the wait , i waited a total of 2 years from first seeing my doctor for a referal but would do it all over again if i needed too

My funding was approved in feb 2011 and I have just been given a date of 27 oct. I had been chasing mine every couple of weeks. I got a call last wek saying my case had been flagged by a manager as all patients should be operated within 18 weeks. That is the NHS target.
