appointment at salford

it will time will fly before you know it your be on the liver reduction diet for min 2 weeks then off you go to have your op

I don't think I'll ever get this op. Salford hospital phoned today ..... they want more blood tests...... no mention of a date for an op or diet or anything. I feel so fed up. I'm struggling every day to keep on working. I'm going to be trapped in this body forever.

Keep going its worth it i had delays due to blood work and have heart problems so they found out so had to habeas my heart tests first before they would do anything keep your chin up

Feeling despondent too!

I asked my gp to refer me to Salford Hospital with a view to Bariatric surgery. My first appointment was in Feb 2013 and have had to see a dietician every month, put on Orlistat, I've lost a few kg, but nothing major. On my last visit this month I asked when they would consider me for surgery and she said it could be over a year before I would be considered. No one has ever mentioned applying for funding, and I'm wondering have I taken the wrong route. I am under Dr Summers, but never see her. Any advice to on how to be considered for surgery would be appreciated. I am 50 years old and been overweight all my life, joined every diet club known to man at some stage in my life and even lost 8 stone with lipotrim at Salford, only to put it all back on again, a dietician is not going to solve my problems at this stage.:sigh:

I started with weight management at salford that lasted for 6 months after the 6 months they told me my gp had to apply for the funding which my gp did and it was approved as i met the crietria which is the hardest part and i did have to chase a lot. I then was referred to the surgical team at salford and had all the tesrs and now on the waiting . I cant remember the website i visited but if you google guidlines for gastric surgery in salford 2013 it should come up. It is a slow process i started in june 12 but hopefully i am near the end. You do have to chase things a lot good luck x

I'm 3 years post op bypass and I see dr ammori and due an appointment with dr summer in December.
As your under dr summer, you can request to she her and not another doctor(if she is in clinic)
I think dr summer is an extremely informative doctor, and if you get the chance to see her,I'm sure she can put your mind at ease and give you timescales.
