B12 injections, suppliments etc........

As much as it pains me ;) i have to agree with Shel - its better to have the B12 jab and stay topped up than not have it in the hope that at some point it might be spotted that your deficent !

I sympathise with PH on the aftercare issues, i think generally its an NHS major issue as a standard (which we've debated in the past before) - i paid private for my op and care package and i cant fault the service i've had, i had a 2 week post op check up, then a 6 week and the last was my 3 months, where i elected not to actually see my consultant as i have no issues at all, i recently been in contact with my dietician over recent issues i've had, who's always available to me when i need him and i have the comfort of the practice nurse or direct to my consultant if i need any medical advice............and of top of all that i have Basil Ammori's direct number, who said to call him if i have any issue's or fancy a beer sometime ! :D

i have had no injections. just have my one a day chewable vit containing 100% rda of all a-z's. i am going to be having bllod tests every three months for the first year, every 6 months for the next year then yearly. i am having then done at my gp surgery and the company i went with will reinburse them for the costs...it saves me traveling over an hour each way to the nuffield for them whuch i am really greatful for.

what one do you actually take? I think chewable is best for me too.

where do you get them from? i have recently come accross this website which sell vitamin tabs cheap

They didn't mention B12 to me at my check - but they didn't have all the blood tests back anyway! (Haven't heard anything since so assume all is well!)

(Have posted this on another thread so apologies for repeating!) ..

I was told the Forceval would be enough (it has over 20 vits & mins in) but it depends on what foods you are eating (or can manage to tolerate).

Having had my bloods to check my levels a couple of weeks ago, I am low on Iron & Zinc (lack of meat as can't tolerate it). Oh & Vitamin D - lack of sun!!

So, as well as the Forceval, have got a multi-vitamin with iron, zinc & vit D in it, already taking pregaday (as was planning on trying for a baby so folic acid - though this plan on hold now!! Don't ask!) All prescribed by doc as well as stronger course of Iron supplement for 3 months.

I was told at the hospital that, in our case, you really can't over-do the vitamins/minerals - but don't quote me on that!

ditzy I've done a lot of research on vit d as it is thought to be linked with psoriasis. Most english people are deficient in it, as we don't get enough daylight.

The best supplement to take is vit d3 atleast 1000ui per day. It is widely thought that the RDA for D is waaaay to low.
