BBQ Weather

Due to the unseasonably good weather:rolleyes: I was wondering what most post oppers eat when invited or cooking a bbq,as I'm only 4 weeks out I am on the pureed stage, but keep fancying salad, but wondered if @ this stage it would be ok or would I have to puree it?I had pulled pork & beef yesterday with copious amounts of gravy with no reaction,so I like to keep pushing the boundaries to see what I can tolerate

I had a BBQ at a week out. My nurse told me just to be careful which I was. I didn't have leafy salad but I managed potato salad. You would be best to ask your team though as its their rules that matter. Xx

why are you pushing the boundaries? Stick to your teams rules. You don't want to end up with a leak.

It was months before I could eat salad but we are all different.

When I say pushing the boundaries I'm talking in terms of portion size rather than non permitted foods,I don't really wish to puree every little item,I would rather use my teeth & chew, but depriving ourselves of certain foods which may be higher in carbs, fat, sugar, calorific value is not something we should necessarily avoid, just be careful it's little & not often.Deprivation will end with failure for sure

I'm afraid if your on the purée stage then u have to stick with puree foods
Bending the rules this early on could lead to failure not the deprivation, this helps train our brains that we can't always have the foods we "want" it's all in the mind xx

Some providers don't appear to believe in the pureed stage, stating god has given you teeth so use them,I myself have not strayed from the pureed stage other than a well chewed mini babybel:cry:

You are only 4 weeks out! This isn't about deprivation. Everyone can stick to the rules for a short period of time if that's what will give then the best recovery.

Once you are back on normal food you can eat what you like. I don't do low fat anything so I agree with you there.

I very much doubt you were able to chew pulled pork enough to make it purée. I wouldn't eat that now and I'm a year out.

Anyway it's your body obviously but I wanted to give my surgery the best opportunity to work successfully with this tool.
