Bit sensitive, but my biggest fear has anyone lost there hair in big quatities.....

hi guys thankyou all for your resonses! its very appreciated think it ll be a wait n see process as were all diff, hey :) xx

I had never really thought about the hair loss issue, ah it will never happen to me, even when I met up with Jayne last month and we were discussing how much hair she had lost, still I was in denial! OMG well last week whilst caravanning, I noticed that my hair has started to come out, I am wondering if it is because I had my hair highlighted and had a major head massage the week before! Anyway I am off to get some tablets to try and halt it as although I have a lot of hair it is very fine so can't really afford to loose too much!

My bypass has triggered a large amount of hair loss, I am now 12 months post op. It started at approx 4 months post op. Saw my bariatric team this week who advised more protein and zinc and selenium tablets. Even though I am still losing some hair, there is regrowth! I have had my hair cut short and use thickening products - no one has noticed except my hairdresser and I!
I would think that bypassers would suffer more due to the malabsorption aspect of the op, so as a bander, maybe your loss will be less.
It certainly hasn't made me question my decision at 10 stone down!
Lx

Hi Kelly. I think that it may be more of a problem for bypassers as their weightloss is often quicker than banders. That's not to say that it doesn't happen to banders.

Its all to do with Hormone changes :) bit like after having a baby )

Hello

I have very, very, thick curly hair and Im a bander. At around 2 months post op my hair started to shed much more than usual but not so much that my hairdresser noticed.

It stopped or rather returned to normal after about 6 months. I lost the majority of my weight fairly quickly in that period, which is what I put it down to.

ooo thats good to know hun, you dont mind a little shedding hey while the body gets use to it, but its nice to know its not premanat xx hopefully!

hi up untill now ive not even thaught about the possable hair loss, but now im thinking about it and to be honest i dont think it will bother me because for the last few weeks my hair has really done my head in so much that i want to cut it off like ife in BB. lol and wear a wig - that way you dont have to pay loads of money to the hair dresser and you can take your hair off when ya want too so its not doing your head in.

thanks everyone xx
