Blues Banding....

Thanks so much for the help much appreciated.

Tomorrow is my 2nd fill...

I put it off, as it was planned for a few weeks ago, but I thought I needed some more time to get used to the first fill, and really try foods to see which work and dont.

Im now used to it and ready for my 2nd fill.

Wonder what ml I'll go up too....hmmm

Depends how hungry you have been and what your diet lady says , if I remember rightly u have a 10ml band , I had 2mls when band put in even though I was told it was empty 3mls at first fill had second fill today with another 1.5 put in so I'm up too 6.5 and boy can I feel it , good luck blue let us know how u get on xxxx

Well I got to the hospital and saw my specialist nurse who does my band fills.

Upon discussing how its been going for me, she wasnt sure if I needed a 2nd fill yet. As ive been doing so good with the weight loss, and certain foods are hard to eat.

Anyhow, I explained that my hunger has been getting worse, and plate size bigger as I wasnt filled by the smaller portions. So she agreed to put 1ml in.

So now im up to 4.5ml in my 10ml band. And WOW can I feel it.

Not with drinks...but....as im on sloppy foods for 48hrs after the band fill....Ive just tried eating some soup... Admittedly it was a chunky soup....and after 4 mouthfuls I felt so full and it hurt so bad....Im still sat here with the pain in my chest. :(

I took the soup away, blended it, put it back in the bowl, thinking if I tried a mouthful it may slip the rest down...But oh no...still pain. So I tried some water....still no reaction.

So I feel winded, and bloated and stuck with food :(....

Im just hoping I havent had too much in the fill, as I just about got the swing of the 3.5ml fill, and now im worried.

It will settle and relax, maybe you just had each spoonful too fast? Usually it's because you need to allow it time to go down so as not to create a backlog. In addition if you have this happen, drinking won't always swill it down...this can sit on top too. You'll get the hang of it soon!

Know the feeling blue I woz filled on Monday and everything I eat sorry should I say slurp give me a funny feeling in my chest like pain but very mild very strange feeling , hope u feel better soon :) xx

Woop woop, just ate some porridge = it went down ok!....I was worried that the band was too tight, as the soup got caught last night...but i think it was because it was a chunky soup! (slaps myself, I should have known better= Sloppy foods for 48hrs dont mean chunky chicken bits!)

Now im pee'ved off again....

Had friends over, done a spaghetti bolognaise. Put a small bit aside for me, and pasta. Cooled the pasta and blended mine all together and put it in a bowl. And slowly started to eat it.

4 spoonfuls later and its stuck, and im in pain.

Now I wonder, is it too soon to go to mushy, As im sure my nurse said 24hrs of sloppy foods then 24hrs after that mushy foods. Or perhaps its the pasta with the new fill?

Im so worried ive had too much of a fill :(

You won't have it's just too early! I on one fill needed liquids for a week, it's just the way it goes sometimes. pasta though? Is that ok based on your providers guidelines?! Blitzed or not I've always been told to leave it well alone...but I know they're all different

I wish I had restriction like that I have had my second fill and can still manage a fair size salad!!!!! I had to do three days liquid and three days slush but all the providers seem to be different. Hope it has gone down now and no more pain!!!!

hmmm I dont think I can wait weeks...the porridge now hurts!

When im drinking tea its coming up my throat, and im sipping small amounts.

I know I need a de-fill. I called and spoke to my specialist nurse who discussed it all with me. She asked me what i'd tried etc, how the pain was, and we decided its probably better to go in for a de-fill as soon as possible (this being Thursday that we discussed this). But I had camping booked for the weekend. I really couldnt cancel, So I coped as best I could.

Took clear soups, eggs, salad, hot dogs, sausages, porridge, casseroles, loads of things I could eat before this second fill, to try and see....But everything hurt apart from the soup. I got to a point of not wanting to eat as I was not looking forward to the pain. And I dont want to live like this.

I was happy at the first fill of 3.5ml, and everyone at my hospital was happy with my progress of losing weight in the few months of this fill, I had some restrictions on foods, and portion sizes, but wasnt crucified like I am now by pain and not being able to eat anything!!

So after a long think and discussing it with the hospital Im hopefully getting de-filled tomorrow to where I was, or a tiny bit more, bit 4.5ml is too much for me right now.

Blue, hope you feel better soon!

I read a lots of frustrated banders posting on the site saying they cannot wait for the band to kick in. I think it's tempting for people to think the only way the band will work for them is by having the fills and they are tempted to rush things by having too large fills too quickly. You are testament to the fact that just a little too much can just push you over the edge. It sounds awful to have that amount of pain. Maybe some other banders will read this thread and now decide take a more cautious approach, and rely on using a bit more of 'mind over matter'.

Good luck with the defill. You are right 4.5ml may just not be right for you at the moment.

Virtual hug :grouphugg:

I am defo going to be going the slow and steady route! Great advice Flutterby :)

Oh believe me, I know when Im wrong and accept it and try to fix or get past it.....

The specialist nurse said I didnt need a fill, and I got greedy, wanting more and have paid the price with pain.

Its been going through my head 'why didnt I listen to the nurse' ffs....oh well...

Lesson learnt!

Heh, its not about being right or wrong. It's a learning for us all. keep your chin up Blue , and just try to get the fluids down you so you don't dehydrate in the meantime x

Well ive been to the hospital, and im now home.

Feel relieved and much better.

The specialist nurse de-filled me....to 3.75 from 4.50.

After I had the de-fill, I went to the hospital restaurant with my friend, to treat her to lunch as she had driven me to the hospital. Anyways, I managed a soup so easily, and I felt much better about eating.

Im on sloppy foods again for 24hrs, and my nurse told me that Id more than likely be swollen inside, so expect some dull aches.

Good luck.. Take it gently ... The weight loss will happen in its own good time :D
