Blues Banding....

I arranged my bed so it was comfy to lay down, I can't lay flat.

Well today was better....in relation to the pain...its more discomfort now and not painful.

Maybe a bit sore or tender.

Anyhows...I got a bit worried, thinking I may have an infection...so I wrote this thread....
Post op Keyhole/scars that are hot to touch?
Which if you read, you will see is just me being paranoid, and assuming the worst.

Im fine, I feel a lot better. Ive eaten okish today, one weetabix and milk this morning, a soup for lunch and for dinner and now im having me banana and custard.

Good and band today....

The Good - I got dressed, went to the supermarket and another furniture shop...walked about...felt good..
The Bad - I over done it...belly was sore and tight...so made it back to the car, when my partner drove me home...

The Good - Ate 3 meals today, Yogurt for breakfast, soup for lunch and.....mashed small light choices baked beans and mashed small jacket potato (took skin off)...
The Bad - Ate all of it, and was eating faster and more....So my appetite is back :(

Still sore on the stomach....waiting till Monday to pop to the GP's surgery to get the dressings off...as im too scared to change them myself, incase I rip something...like the Steri strips....

Apart from that...im upbeat...and my hunger/appetite is back on the brain...So its more mental fighting again!

If you take a step back and look at what you ate though it's not much is it! I can eat that as a snack, and then have a full meal after!! Keep up the good work you are doing great!!!! X

Great you up and about, and yes as dinky said compared to previously the whole day would have been one meal. Hope all goes well on Monday

Today I went to the garden centre again...but forgot breakfast, so I felt sick and had tummy gurgles....and it was hot in there, as its like a massive greenhouse!

Wasnt there for long, came home, having some porridge and feel better....

NEW RULE -Must eat in morning....cant keep forgetting!

On a better note...had a wonderful sleep last night...can roll both sides now, but the port side (my left) still is sore and tender, so not on that side long.

Hi There

Thanks for the comment...

I have 5 wounds....4 of them are 1cm in length, and the 5th one is the port, which is 2cm long...and the most painful as its tender, sore and has loads of bruising. But its manageable...nothing to scream about lol ;)

How're you feeling today Blue?

Im not bad thanks Yve - hows you?

4 of my 5 wounds dont hurt no more, and are barely tender....just the one big one -the port...(2cm)....its very tender and sore....I still feel it when I sit, stand, laydown, cough, eat, the lot.

Good news though.....Had a nurse call me today (day 6 after operation) to discuss how im feeling. She went through a tick chart of questions, which I answered, then asked me if I had any questions. I mentioned the tenderness of the port, and foods which ive been eating, and how long on the liquid/slops/mushy foods....She said tenderness is normal. Foods Ive been eating are good and to stay on them a minimum of 2 weeks before trying other more bulkier foods.

THEN she told me that 6 weeks from my surgery I would get my first fill. SO I said 'Ok, ill see you in 6 weeks then', she laughed and said, 'No, I'll see you in 5 weeks now...as you surgery was last week!'

So the end of May is my first fill......And I cant wait...as I have a festival on the 8th June...and I wanna be past the slops stage and comfortable with the restrictive fill.

Thats brilliant!! I'm going on holiday to Turkey in July, and I worked out that six weeks after my op, would be the end of june, so I'd get to have a fill before I go away! It's good and reassuring that they are checking up on you, I bet you feel better for it too, dont you?

Yeah it did reassure me....Made me feel like I wasnt just a number :)

Lisa -im afraid to say that every hospital is different...on how long you wait for the first fill...I read someone earlier who has to wait 9 weeks...Just have a word with your hospital about your holiday, as they may not fill it till you come back, cos of flying...

Plus -if you have travel insurance already or not, you need to make sure 'existing conditions' cover your band...incase you need help in Turkey....

I am good today. Just a little internal twinge now. Even the itching is better. The glue is slowly peeling off and my incisions are looking good. Slept the whole night through! Got some tasty soups in as the ones I made are not stage appropriate as I realised too late! But am feeling goood!

Grrrr just typed loads and lost it lol.....

Anyways....Asked my nurse at the hospital about the stages today as I have conflicting information in my booklet and letter. She said im doing good, to do it for 2 weeks and then start introducing more foods into my diet.

Also, I asked her when I can have my dressings off... She said tomorrow, I said....I was seeing my nurse at the gps surgery today, and she is happy to do them for me, and the hospital nurse was ok with that....So the bandages are off today :)

All of my information from my hospital says that fills are done 4-6 weeks after surgery. So if that is the case that will be around the middle to end of June, which will then give me a month before I go to Turkey.

I saw the thread about holiday insurance, I already have one pre-existing medical condition with my underactive thyroid, so I am used to shopping around. I'm sure it'll be mega expensive now :(

Wow wow wow...too excited to type it all!....trying here lol

Just came back from my Gps surgery....the nurse took my dressings off, and everythings looking good. Im glad I went to her, as not only was she overly excited about my gastric band, but she was so proud of me....Also when she took the dressings off, one of steri strips stuck to the dressing, so luckily I was there, she put new steri strips on and said that all my wounds are looking good, are healing but are bruised.

THEN....She wanted to weigh me....and after she did, she was bouncing round the office telling me 'Omg guess how much you have lost' and I was like 'tell me, tell me lol'

Anyways...since I started this journey (I go from the first day of the pre-op diet when it comes to the weight start), on the 3rd April 2012 up until now...Ive lost.....

18lbs :)
(had to edit this, as I done my calculations wrong :()

Wow well done you!! That's absolutely amazing!!! I bet your over the moon! How are your wounds looking? I didn't get bandages or steri strips just glue , I have a docs appointment later as I think the main one may be infected and they don't know I've had a band so that will be interesting! Anyway just had to reply because I'm really happy for you xx
