BluewooFedUp Pre Op Diary

Well here goes my last night before starting the Milk and Yoghurt Liver Shrinking Diet.

So I have approx 800 k/cals to use up each day ..... for the next 14 days.....

I've been trying out a few different types of low calorie yoghurts, some I like :D some I don't so they've been donated to my Hubby.

I've found that freezing the yoghurt is quite good for me; especially in this weather :character00238: Chipping away at the frozen yoghurt helps me take my time and savouring it melting in my mouth.

I'm still going to have my home made Soya Light Latte Coffee in the morning and that'll be out of my allowance. I just can't survive without coffee..... OK an overstatement but it's one way of getting milk down me. I'm not a milk drinker and usually have Soya so I'm mixing it up a little with the yoghurts.

This evening, my last evening on solids for a while, I've treated it like any other and had Chicken breast and salad. :eatdrink023:

So here goes.... wish me Luck and Willpower

:fingerscrossed:

Good luck, remember to drink plenty or you may have headaches...
During my pre op diet, i ended up being the B....h from hell...lol
X

Ooh, good luck with the pre op diet! I'm currently 11 days into my pre op and let me tell you, it gets easier as you go. I was also on the milk and yoghurt one, and the first few days are the hardest. Once you get into the swing of things, it'll fly by!

Thanks all, I'll warn Hubby about the possible "change in demeanour"... and I'll make sure I drink plenty especially with the sticky weather.

So a little over but not too bad for having a meal with friends. I did find that after breakfast (which wasn't sitting too well) I wasn't really hungry for ages.

When I did feel a little hungry I drank water, I'm trying to wean myself off carbonated water before the op. I'm also trying squash (no added sugar) :yuk: I'm just not keen on the artificial taste it has....

So no headaches today, went well, but on track tomorrow as no get togethers planned...

I think the freshly ground coffee bean smell is the only thing waking me up in the morning, but again that's pretty usual for me :p

Didn't eat enough calories, but sick to death of SWEET taste , so not sure if it was "I'm not hungry" or "can't eat anymore sweet stuff". :grumble: Why don't they make a savoury yoghurt???? :grumble: I've never been a fan of sweet stuff I'd rather have savoury food. Any ideas out there?

Questions I'm left with....

Was pondering if Bovril or Marmite or Bouillion was allowed as a drink?

Another thing, Fibre, can you add things to the milk such as Flax meal?

Do they make such a thing as Cheese flavoured youghurt?

Will catch up with my provider today to see.

Ooh

Just been in contact with my provider and asked my questions.

Was pondering if Bovril or Marmite or Bouillion was allowed as a drink?
Yes :) Yippee I didn't think I could be so excited over a savoury item - mad isn't it...

Another thing, Fibre, can you add things to the milk such as Flax meal?
Big no no - need to keep the water and fluid uptake going

Do they make such a thing as Cheese flavoured youghurt?
Not as far as they know

Although it did lead me onto thinking that there might just be a market for savoury youghurts... I'm going to try  marmite and natural yoghurt and I'll let you know how it turns out

Still haven't hit the 800 kcals, which is strange to say really. I'm finding it hard to eat so many yoghurts; although I am tolerating them which is a plus.

Not really feeling any different so far on this restricted diet; no headaches, no feeling worse than usual so onwards and upwards.

I'm still finding that I really, really don't like squash :yuk: Tried the Sainsburys Orange, Lemon and Pineapple this time - Hubby is getting a lot of squash to go through :p

I really am a sparkling water person and finding it difficult even just to get plain water down. It just seems to sit very heavily on the bit just under my breastbone - strange - but then I'm strange anyway...

You would have laughed after my call with the provider, I dug out all the marmite and bovril jars (once I managed to open them) and was INHALING the aroma  it was wonderful. Alas the first I tried was the Beef Bovril with hot water, it smelt better than it tasted but boy it was still better than sweet stuff.

Haven't tried the Marmite and yoghurt yet as I need to get some more natural, even I'm not going to try strawberry, rhubarb and marmite :D

How are you getting on and did you find any tips and tricks with the milk and yoghurt diet?

Well I'm getting nearer the 800 kcals mark.

Still finding it hard to drink plain water or squash :yuk: going to have a search for some cordial MacB or Green Bottle.

I'm finding my favourites in the youghurts; rhubarb , lemon, plain greek fage (very tart).

Chicken Bovril was a revelation for me, never been one for chicken crisps but this stuff it's wonderful... :eat: Only keeping it to one drink a day to keep me from craving the savoury side.

No headaches to report. I feel as if I'm always eating, grazing through the day and to me this doesn't feel right  I'd got myself into a good routine of 3 meals a day and 1 snack.

So I'll be off to the shops and finding some natural plain yoghurt to experiment with marmite...;)

Willpower...

I can't believe that these things have happened;

  • Last night I sat there next to Hubby I was eating a yoghurt and he was tucking into a gorgeous smelling curry - I left him alone (and the curry)
  • Tonight he's having cabonara which smells divine
  • There are mini Babybels in the fridge which I've looked at and ignored

What is happening to me? I would have caved in by now and grabbed a Babybel and chomped through it.

Although I have tried to rationalise; if I'm on the Milk and yoghurt diet, isn't cheese the next stage?? Wishful thinking ;)

Well done. I'm on my last day of LRD - op tomorrow. I can't believe how good I've been - nor can anyone else. Hardest day was when visitor brought back fish and chips for her and my hubby. It's fine I said while moving to the next room to gnaw on my fist lol.

This diary / pre op diet is getting repetitive :sigh:

I had to drag myself out in the heat :character00238: today and get my powerchair altered.

Had an attempt at shopping on the way back and had a lot of help round the store. Help was very welcome and appreciated.

I still couldn't find a flavour cordial I fancied but found some still flavoured water. I managed a litre of the stuff! Raspberry and Apple :woohoo: (All I need now is just to find the flavouring)

Sat next to the gravy section and inhaled, it's such a wonderful smell, savoury heaven. Bought some vegetable Bouillion to try, getting a bit adventurous now and it was really flavoursome :)

I did get a smile or two with the amount of yoghurt I bought but hey ho if it makes someone smile ;)

Drinking a bit more especially in this hot weather. Not really feeling hungry; along with the diet I suppose this weather is helping with the lack of hunger as eating a heavy meal in this heat is just not on, unless its a rather yummy curry

Like you I was one of the 'lucky' ones, as soon as I knew I had to do the pre-op diet or lose the chance of having the op my will power took over an I followed it to the letter.

Good luck on the 2nd
