Hi i was due to have my period 10 days ago normally you could set your watch by me!, i'm not sure how to put this nicely(!) it has been there for the last 10 days the normal pulling & dull ache & every morning when i wipe its there (sorry!) but nothing else is going on, should i ring my provider or is this the norm cos of major surgery its not worrying me as such just annoying me!!
Thanks in advance

Morning Emm, I had the Mirena coil fitted some years ago and for the last year or so Ive hardly had any visits from Aunto Flo :D But every day since surgery she has been here! Hovering around like a bad smell  So, Im assuming its a consequence of the surgery. I remember a few people saying take sanitary towles to hospital as the surgery can make things happen :D Hope it settles soon, and Aunto Flo bogs off back to whence she came ;) x

I too have the mirena coil and hadn't had a totm for 6 months that was until the day after my surgery when low and behold! Once again its been 6 months since the last one but like you Em i've had a few similar experiences but i am approaching that dodgy age so was puting it down to that and surgery. I would see if it settles down if not i'd just double check with team. Hope it settles soon x

Oh the joys of being a woman  Im 1 behind you hun and I can tell ya I aint looking forward to it, I think my family will desert me lol! XX

I'm due on tomorrow & I'm normally as regular as clockwork...too regular in fact, will be interesting to see if it comes!

Please let me know Angie it'll be interesting to see if its a general thing, i've had terrible pains today at the pit of my stomach its the first time since surgery that i've had to take painkillers for stomach pain, so maybe it will turn up at some point!! Thanks for all your replies xx

Em I had a period when it was due about a week before my pre-op. Then another, and another ..... just finished my fifth period is six weeks. It is the op or the drastic change in diet or something. But as you say - flaming annoying :(

Oh and forgot to say - I also have a myrena fitted and I settled down to a period every 4 weeks about June this year and now this :(

oh im so glad i dont have to put up with any of these any more, i had a hysterectomy almost 6 yrs ago, and its been the best thing i ever did. i really feel for all of you, specially with all this messing around youve got now, and isnt it weird the number of ladies that come on a period either just before or just after their surgery, even if they arnt due, i find it fascinating. i wonder if its something to do with being on the liver shrinking diet, and dropping a good amount of weight in a very short time. has anyone been given a reason for it by any member of theyre team?
i hope you all get sorted into a proper 'routine' again soon girls, hugs xx

The only thing Ive been told is that loosing the fat releases hormones so you end up having the period and also the post op blues can be the same thing :D X

oh yeah, come to think about it, i did get post op blues, and i dont normally get them. i just put it down to being lonely, cos i was on my own most of the time, and having the op really upset my back, which is bad at the best of times, so i wasnt really mobile either. maybe if i had still been able to, i would have had a period, cos ive still got my ovaries. that really makes sense when you come to to think about it. thanks girls xx

ITS ARRIVED!!

woo hoo, hopefully things will settle down now into a proper routine. hugs xx

Do you know that's why this sight is so fantastic. I have a Mirena coil and have had a permanent period since my band. I was only thinking yesterday that I must go to the doctors as things cant be right and then I read the posts and the worry goes away. I wonder if it is something to do with the coil? Seems funny so many of us have that in common. A permanent period is truly a joy tho and interesting so many of you are sharing it too. :-(
Best wishes
Jo XX
