Hiya

how long is it till you can drive after surgery?

I have been told about 10 days - until you are sure that you can do an emergency stop at least xx lot going on inside that needs mending - dont do anything too early x

Hi

It depends on which surgery really. I had a band and my gp gave me the go ahead to drive after a week.

With a bypass it would depend if it was open or lap but Im sure someone will be along to advise! x

Also, check with your insurance company as some have restrictions.

Be careful about thinking they won't be any the wiser. Claims assessors are trained to spot even the slightest thing that doesn't seem quite right and most insurance companies employ ex-police detectives to investigate possible fraudulent claims x

Hi Bex they told me at Salford when I went it would be about 14 days or when I could do an emergency stop.

Xx

It's not just about the healing stomach. My concentration is totally off right now, 6 days post op. No way would I be safe behind the wheel of a car.

My surgeon said he didnt give a time limit it was when I felt well enough to drive but to check with my insurance, and they said to do whatever the surgeon said lol I didnt drive for 2 weeks as my husband was home so I didnt need to

thanks for that, just so i know with work x
