Hi all I was supposed to have my sleeve today I got to hospital at 10 am and stayed there until 5.30pm when the anaesthetist came to see me and that's when he got the call that they couldn't fit me in so I have to call the nurse in the morning for a new date so I'm a bit down now .

I do hope the rest of you who had their op today went well? xxx

Oh sweetheart what an absolute bummer. I hope your revised date is really soon, so you can stay on the pre-op diet and not have to get messed around even more. I'm beginning to realise how bloody lucky I am.

How soul destroying is that?....I really hope you get a date sooner rather than later.

Hi, Sorry to hear that your op was cancelled. I was thinking of you today as we are both down to have op with Marco Adamo. I hope you get your new date soon. Did you have to do the soup and yoghurt diet in readiness? I am in on Thursday to see the anethetist and have an ultrasound on my heart. I hope you have news re your new date soon. Take care. C x

It's worth noting that while it can be demoralizing to have this happen it is a problem with elective surgery, theatres are given to priority patients so if a family is involved in a car accident they get priority, would any of us want it any other way, having said that it truly seems unfair at the time until you stand back and assess. We are also coming into the territory of winter bugs, when hospitals can cancel all elective lists, sorry to be the voice of doom, all you can do is stay positive and know that all decisions are made to safeguard us, the patients.

I just had to google the name "Marco Adamo" as I had not heard of him and thought it was not a Whittington surgeon .... and found you are a UCL patient. (How odd, you live in Islington and will be travelling a little bit south to UCL and I live in south London and will be travelling north to the Whittington!).

Well, what a young handsome devil he is, I found, after googling the poor chap!
