Cannot go without an afternoon nap!

7.5 weeks post-op and still having to have an afternoon nap of about 2 hours! I get hit by a wave of exhaustion about 2-3pm and have to lie down and rest or else I can't keep on going. I did have 2 major surgeries, keyhole for bypass and open surgery for twisted bowel 2 days later. Was told 6-8 weeks recuperation after open surgery. Also have open wound in tummy and under care of district nurses. Feel a lot better now but struggling to cope with the exhaustion. Can't see me dropping the afternoon nap anytime soon! Luckily I office manage my partners business from home so it's quite flexible when I work.
Anyone else still need a nap in afternoon? Is it due to the low calories?

I've never needed an afternoon nap and was back working 12 hour days within 4 days of my op.

How lucky you were! I was still in hospital fighting for my life after developing major complications from 2nd open surgery 2 days after bypass at 4 days . Everyone has a different story to tell. Wish mine had gone that easy!

I sometimes feel the 'urge' to have an afternoon nap in the couple of weeks leading up to my vitamin jab. Maybe that's a part of it in your case.

Even if it's not, you and your body has had a hell of a time and could still be in 'shock' xx

Exactly everyone is different so if a nap suits you and your lifestyle enjoy it :)

I love afternoon naps! And would have them even before surgery, but my work hours are all over the place and often on nights. You have had two lots of surgery and its just your body's way of coping. I know after my bypass i was sleeping for about 20 hours a day!! Just take your time with your recuperation, listen to your body and take care of yourself.

Im also a reiki practitioner, and if you're interested PM me and can arrange to send you some distance healing.

My surgery was very straightforward but I still really was in need of naps at your stage. Low energy levels and coldness, brr. I was back at work my 3 days a week by then but certainly on my days off I needed to nap.

Go with it for as long as you need to and can do. Your body eventually returns to a normal functioning level. I don't need to nap now and haven't for quite a while.

I seem to be feeling the cold too!!! Often I go to bed to warm up as well as being tired.
Tried to go without a nap today and walked to collect my daughter from school(15 mins there and 15 mins back). Shattered now! Gonna be in bed by 7.30pm! Spoke to GP today who said my body could still be in shock after 2 ops and 2 doses of anaethestic which could be making me tired still.

That makes absolute sense, dont try to push yourself. If you need to rest, then rest! Your body has been through so much and needs time to heal itself.

Take care of you!

I got sudden drops of energy up to about 10 weeks after my op. Its not surprising that you are tired, you are using energy to heal yourself. Remember to get as much protein in as you can, I'd day at least 80g is pos.
Also, get used to feeling the cold. I just cannot wait for the summer so I can actually feel some warmth!
