Changing Tastes

I'm not keen on eggs either now. Loved them pre-op. I CAN eat them, just don't want to.

Yogurts turn my stomach now and I liked yogurts pre-op. And tea tastes really bitter now. I was a tea lady before but now prefer milky coffee.

I also no longer crave chocolate. I like it still and can eat it without dumping but I choose not to because my body is no longer screaming for it. That may just be than I've been weened off the addiction though.

As for cannot eat. I can't eat fish at all. Had such a bad experience with it that I daren't even try any more. And up until today I couldn't eat dry chicken - but I can now if I chew chew chew.

Oh and anything sweet tastes exceptionally sweet now - to the point of being sickly sweet.

Have you tried fish pie Karen? Because theres not lots of fish and its got sauce on it you might be ok. I had it the other day and I enjoyed it :D X

I did actually Jacqui and I was ok with fish pie, but it was an asda one and not too tasty lol.

I said to hubby just today that I'm going to make my own with a very small piece of smoked haddock and lots of low fat sauce. No one else in the house will eat it so it really will be a small one, or an average one frozen in portions.

That sounds nice, the one I had was Admirals pie and its on offer in Tesco and it was lovely :D Good luck with it, hope you manage to enjoy it XX

Sweet things taste far too sweet and I can't tolerate them on the whole. I used to add masses of salt to my food but now I don't add any and some cheese tastes revolting because of the saltiness (melted brie for instance).
I have no interest in chocolate, little interest in carbs (used to LOVE them) but still really enjoy meat! Which is great as its such a good source of protein. Like Mary, I LOVE fatty meat, but since dumping on a tiny bit of crackling last week, I won't be risking it any time soon!
I still like eggs but I find them very indigesible.
I'm craving something tangy and haven't found anything tangy enough yet.
Oh, and I've totally gone off tea in any form. I used to drink lots of Lady Grey/Earl Grey.

charis, i too can taste salt in things now, ive never liked salt, but now, its terrible, i cant eat lancashire cheese cos it tastes salty, as for something tangy, what about putting your finger in a little bit of piccallilli or something similar, that might just satisfy your craving, and it wouldnt be enough to make you ill, hopefully. or a bit of brown sauce with your eggs, big hugs xx

Dawny, I want tangy like very fruity. Like fresh pineapple with real bite, something like that! I had some tinned pinepple yesterday but it wasn't tangy enough. I could probably suck a lemon and enjoy it!

ah right, well what about getting a lemon, grapefruit, some fresh pineapple and cutting them into little pieces and put them in a bowl, and even if you cant eat the fruit, you could suck them, theyd probably be good for you actually. hugs xx

Dawny you're a saint! Great idea! Hubby shall be off to the supermarket again tomorrow...and some fresh/frozen raspberries will be going in the bowl too!

I suspect it's what my body is craving in term of vitamins. I was the same when ill in pregnancy.

great huni, i hope you enjoy them, and yeah they probably are what you need right now. what about kiwi as well, thats nice n tangy, yummy. hope you do start feeling better very soon hun, big hugs xx

I can't stand the taste or smell of smoked fish, can manage fish fingers and yesterday had crab pate. hot chocolate (hi lite) dont go down either flavour wise, as for things my tum cant take are chicken breasts (thigh was ok), pasta, rice, and most salad or raw food

I was a big coffee drinker befor my bypass now i dont like the taste. Like you i dont like yogurt i managed to have Muller Light yogurt after surgery but mixed it 50/50 with milk. Chicken has always been my main meat and i can still eat it but very little. Good luck for tomorrow.
Charmaine xx

I find i am tasting food more as I have to eat slowly but my tastes dont seem to have changed at all. I try to make healthy choices but i still sometimes crave for the 'naughties'. It's still a case of being strong and using will power i find
Best wishes
Jo XX
