Cheap gym membership

Anyone know any ways of getting cheap membership for an gyms or leisure centres??

I work full time but have very little disposable income (around £25) a mth but struggling to find anything!

I live in Kingston but willing to travel out a little bit.

Any help much appreciated!!!

ask your GP - they can give gym on presciption these days! i joined Hounslows leisure centres - got a discount because i work there, so pay £25 a month to use all their centres. Maybe Kingston does something similar? x

i have heard about gp's referring, and able to get discount, but i think it varies in each pct on how it works, the cheapest my gym is 28 pm which is off peak, i pay 35

Why not look for some free gym equipment on your local freecycle group? You could make your own little gym at home, and then don't forget we have the great outdoors, walking is a good form of exercise. Set yourself challenges, or just buy a pedometer (around £6) and aim for your 10,000 steps a day... You can save your disposable income for all the new clothes you will need :) xx

If you work for Local Government you get a discount at council owned sports centres. Before I was too bone idle to go last year it cost ms £27 per month full membership including classes instead if £35. No joining fee and rolling membership so you are not committed for a year.

Did i mention i am a member at a DC Leisure Centre? I pay £53 for me and my husband, thats with a 15% discount as i work for the NHS. That gets me all the classes and for the first month 5 appts with a personal trainer who has measured me and given me an exercise programme. I go back to see her in a week when she re assesses my programme (and if she thinks she's upping my time on that blooming bike she can think again, it's a killer) although Aquatrim is great fun lol....

Lol looked on freecycle and no gym equiptment...doubt there will be!
Unfortunately the company I work for is an independent home care company which is a bit poo!

Found one which is £15.99 a mth for unlimited use of gym, no classes or swimming but it open 24hrs a day which is handy as I work weird hours sometimes!

When I was more mobile I was able to go to my gp and the programme is called, exercise by prescription and every time I went too the gym I paid 1.10 to use the facilities for as long as I wanted to or it was 1.50 for gym including a swim after. Worth checking out hun and every time I went they had personal trainers there also which I was able to use full use of. HTH xxx

I had the gym on prescription a few years ago when I lost weight with Cambridge.
I asked my doctor if I could have it again now afer surgery and he said that they are only allowed to prescribe it once.
I seem to remember that it is only for a set number of weeks or sessions but I dont know if that is the case now.
I joined my local gym with all the trimmings (pool, classes etc) for £25 p.m. And of course I do my garden and my house is spotless lol. I can now reach into all those nooks and crannies with ease!

Hi, My doctor kept on about me joining a gym so i said are you going to pay (mucking around) and he produced a voucher that gave me £165.00 off joining fee and reduced monthly rates at about £30.00, so i packed up smoking, brought some sexy pumps and went to the gym for 5 weeks?? I found out i was pregant :bliss:so i couldn't go anymore, shame it was an all ladies gym that rotates the equipment use and has a dance floor for "throwing some shapes":banana dancer::bunnydance::banana dancer: as and when the feeling took you x They still write to me to rejoin but not sure about the joining fee now lol x
as phatmomma said about freecycle, You could do a wanted post, I brought a stepper and its made a fab clothes hanger :8855:but thats about it so had i of seen a wanted post for that thing i would have shipped it out the door lol
alot of people cant be bothered to right offer post so always best to put in your wanted x take care xxxx
