Loves this site x
Hi guys, Christmas is fast approaching and just wondered, would i be allowed a few xmas drinks, nothing major the odd glass of wine, I will be 9 weeks out by Christmas. :xmassign::4616::xmastree::109:

Yay Bex, love the Christmas smilies :D

I too am wondering what to have at Christmas in the way of drink. I have been trying to think of something without the fizz and yet something not too strong as it all goes straight to my head at the best of times :wave_cry:

Just think, a few weeks ago you were hoping and praying that you would get through the op alright and getting all worried and now look at you - all geared up for Christmas and all the festivities :D

Bless your heart, it is lovely to see such a positive attitude as you launch yourself into the rest of your new slim and happy life :553:

Hi Mandy, i feel fantastic, best thing I have ever done, everyone I see says that I am glowing. Hope your okay? I am not keen on wine but trying to think what else I can have, I love to socialise, don't like vodka either !!!

this must be the party post lol,,,,,,,me too! thinking maybe pimms and cranberry light,,,,,or another low sugar juice,,,,,i hate the idea of not aving a lil drinky over christmas,so any ideas would be great,,,,im with you bex , i want to still have fun and party now and again too! x,,,

hehe Dawn i so agree, and our new figures, pimms and cranberry light juice sounds nice x

i had a party sat night ,our 29th anniversary,,,could handle the food situation but really missed a glass of something ,im starting to hate water haha ,,,great night but would have been greater with one drink, lol ,by the way , ya looking great love x

At our hospital we were told to avoid alcohol for a year, partly because it's empty calories and partly because after surgery the alcohol is absorbed so much faster and has stronger longer lasting effect. I know someone who had a sleeve and 7 weeks post op drank a whole bottle of red wine in front of my eyes, i couldn't believe it, i don't know her well enough to know if she was a drinker before surgery! She got drunk very fast!!! I can't see that sipping a small glass over a couple of hours would do much though, you could even dilute it with a little water.

I have a bottle of dry white every Sunday and have been fine. And it's never effected my weight loss. The only problem is beware of the nibbles as they go down to easily after a drink.

I haven't had a drink either yet, I'm thinking either rose wine or vodka and cranberry, I'm a little scared of having a drink although I was quite a heavy drinker before surgery. I'm scared of getting drunk too quick, I'm scared of being ill and I'm scared I will get addicted and my weight loss will stop but at the same time I really do want to have a drink as my friends have stopped asking me to go out and I think its because I'm not drinking x

If your friends only want you with them when you're drunk I think that says something about your friends? If you were a heavy drinker before I would also be concerned about the possibility of transfer addiction. I am not in any way qualified these are only my own opinions, but you have put all this effort into getting healthy would you really want to get into the drink? A drink to be sociable is a whole different ball game from binge drinking. :)

karen you say you think its because you aint drinkin,,,maybe you just look so good now they dont want you to go out with them!, lol,,,,,and marie i dont think karen or anyone meant getting steaming drunk,or binge drinking,,i meant just an odd drink, like you say theres a big difference,,,but i agree it would have to be with caution, and in my case rarely as i want the best out of my surgery,,

Dawn, I know that's what they meant, prob my bad grammar, sorry x
I meant that Karen going out with her mates and getting steaming drunk wouldn't be a great idea. lol.
I love a drink but never too much, it comes from having an alcoholic mother, I always worry in case i get a taste for it.

i know what you mean love , x, i feel guilty even thinking about a drink, lol x,hows the pre op going? its hard but so worth while ,x good luck x

Well surprisingly enough today I feel great, I am not starving like I have been for days, I had a cambridge diet sachet for breakfast and hubby made me a mixed veg and chicken curry yesterday, so had the remains of that today, was yummy. Will have another shake before
bed so i don't lay there with a grumbly belly.
Thanks for asking :)

What a great thread!! All I've had when we've been out so far has been small orange juice, or coffee - depending whether the pub serves coffee or not!
I kind of like most spirits (but not Rum), so I was thinking of buying some diet tonic, and deliberately letting it go flat so I can have a tasty little G n T over Christmas.
Only thing I want to know is are we allowed Baileys?? LOL xx

im guessing that if your pouch can handle it, you can have it :) xxx

Well, I don't really dump, so perhaps I'll try a small one and see how I go . . . (Hope it's not the slippery slope to self destruction!!) xx
you'll be ok Kath, everything in moderation, just like normal eaters and drinkers :) xxx

I think bailys would almost certainly make you dump. More worrying is cud you stop at one, I couldn't it used to be my favorite.

I love the thought of baileys but it too creamy for me, think I might have to invent a alcoholic flat drink lol
