Hi Hun..have you got a Humidifier with your CPAP? Before i got mine fitted mouth was so dry that my teeth literally stuck to my lips!

No I havnt & I know exactly what you mean !
Mine is a nose mask x

The humidifier definitely helps, I used to wake up in the mornings and my lips and tongue were so cracked and dry they'd be bleeding :( The humidifier stops this, but i had to fight the hospital to give me one as they don't routinely give them out, seems silly to me!!

The only problem I now occasionally get is rainout i.e. water collects in the pipe and once so much has collected it gets blown into my face, but i try and keep the pipe under my duvet to help with this as keeping it warm stops the water from collecting.

Thanks Hannah , this is not something I have experienced, thankfully lol

Oh okay.. i have a full face mask....The only thing i can say is ring whoever supplied the CPAP to see if you can use a Humidifier,or failing that as what they can do for you....Sorry i can't be much help.
Take Care

I could of wrote this !

hahaha it's annoying isn't it :) One minute you're fast asleep and the next minute you're ripping the mask of your face cos you think you're drowning!! In reality it's such a small amount of water, but you still wake up startled like someone has just thrown a bucket over your head! :)

Is yours full face ? Maybe I don't get it cos mines not ??

Mine is full face yeah, but it's only something you have to worry about when you get the humidifier :)

You don't need a full face mask for a humidifier.
Also, to help with rainout, you can get a sleeve to cover the tube, use water that is from the hot tap (I clean mine regularly and descale it - can't afford to pay for water) as this allows you to keep the temperature lower because once you're asleep the cooler air won't wake you because your body temp drops.

Also make sure that cpap is on the floor and that the steam has to travel up to get to you as then water will mostly run back down!

I have been rainout free for the last two months...and slept the sleep of happy hoseheads.

The nurse asked me if I was a mouth breather, when I said I was she said that I should have humidifier. I looooooove my CPAP machine. I have only had one face full of water in the middle of the night, and once I realised that no one had thrown a wet flannel at me, it actually made me laugh! Ok off to sleep with my CPAP! nite nite.

mine use to be the same till they put a humidifiyer on and now its brill n i use a nose mask x

Thanks Jane , I will have to investigate , tho I am hoping to get rid soon after the op ... do I persevere for a few months or not , I don't know , its not a major problem .

Am I strange?? I got a terribly dry mouth and throat so got humidifier but hated the warmth blowing in my face much prefer the cool air without the heat from humidification but apparantly cool humidification is ineffective so I went back to the dry mouth and throat and cool air blowing in my face lol my mask covers my mouth with two nasal tubes tried many this is most comfortable one I found x

blimey i hope i dont have it lol
