Dark urine?

I read somewhere that your urine should be straw coloured, well mine is a dark brown, I'm sure this means something but don't know what, anyone know? My bowels seem to be swapping from unable to go to leaky hosepipe, sorry for the picture in all of your heads, I tried to think of the best way to put it.

urine is always darker in the morning as your kidney take a rest when you're alseep x

Hi Mark, dark urine normally means you are dehydrated and therefore not taking in enough fluids. my info from the hospital says we need to take in between 3-4 litres of fluid per day. I'm struggling with this amount but trying hard! could this be the reason?

I agree with Lynn, and the darker it is the more water you need to drink.

Hi Rayne, I do struggle, but I have tea and coffee during the day say about 4-5 cups, and also try to have 2 large (4-500ml) of nas lemon squash at night once I've stopped eating at about 7. it's the only way I can manage it. I'm not good with plain water, which I know is the best for you, but I'm concentrating on the total "fluids" intake other than just water.

Just what I was going to say. I even have this now and I had my surgery at the end of September. It is one sure way of knowing that you need to up your water intake. :)

oh i better start drinking tea..im so not drinking anywhere near you guys xx

Good way to get fluids in is sugar free ice lollies or ice chips, soup or plenty of 'wet'fruit like melon!

Yesterday, I had half a cup of tea and a half pint glass of apple and lemon squash, today I've had half a coffee, 2 cups of oxo, 1 cup of milk, 1 cup of bovril and it's only 15.30 so a dramatic increase, I just hope it's enough, but I haven't had anything to eat, I can't do both!

Its hard to find the time to eat all our meals and to drnk all the fluids aswell... i am attempting to day to have 4 cups of tea today...ive had two already and will have two later... and im just gonna try and take sips of water or nas squash inbetween meals... remember hun the milk is classed as a food and not water, but the bovril is good x

Your urine should be clear not straw coloured, and certainly not brown. You should seek an urgent appointment with your GP today. Do not mess about with this mate there are a number of things it could be and you need to have your pee tested urgently
